PURPOSE: The aims of the presented study were to define the fracture rate of implant-supported metal-ceramic restorations delivered in private practice, and to identify if a restoration's contact during eccentric mandible movements has any influence on ceramic fracture rates.

This study is an analysis of fixed partial dentures (FPDs), 8 units or more, that failed or suffered severe complications within the first 2 years after cementation. The material consists of claims to the Swedish Guarantee Insurance for Fixed Prosthodontics. Claim reports, radiographs, etc. were available. Over a 6-month period, 36 FPDs were sampled, 34 of which were made by general practitioners. Oral mucosal changes and associated factors were studied among male industrial workers in southern Finland. Two groups, with or without access to an employer-provided dental benefit scheme, were compared. A multiple-choice questionnaire followed by clinical examinations was completed by 325 (81%) subsidized workers and 174 (69%) controls. OBJECTIVE: To investigate if magnetic- attached overdenture supported by microimplants of 2.5 mm in diameter was able to function properly.
METHODS: Fourteen microimplants were placed in 4 patients. Implants were exposed 3 months later and magnetic abutments were connected directly.
