Drug induced erythema multiforme (EM) is a rare clinical entity which majorly involves the oral cavity. It commonly occurs due to intake of drugs such as NSAID'S, certain antibiotics, and anticonvulsants. It is characterized by rapidly rupturing vesicles leading to ill-defined erosions in the oral cavity and encrusted lip lesions. Erythema multiforme is an acute hypersensitivity eruption with sharply demarcated papules and plaques. It has many known causes, from herpes simplex virus and drugs to malignancy and environmental factors. Although other herbicides have been linked to erythema multiforme, no previous reports have described a link with atrazine. We present a 24-year-old man with difficulty breathing, bilateral eye pain with redness, and a diffuse rash consistent with erythema multiforme following occupational exposure to atrazine.

Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (cotrimoxazole or TMP/SMX) is commonly used for the treatment of urinary or lower respiratory tract infections. A 45-year-old otherwise healthy male from an endemic region for Leishmania braziliensis infection in Bahia, Brazil, presented with three erosive hemorrhagic infiltrated plaques on the left shin accompanied with lymphadenopathy in the groin since one month. A Leishmania skin test performed on the left forearm was strongly positive (20 × 18 mm). Two days later, the patient felt sick and feverish. Erythema multiforme, an uncommon skin disease resulting from an aberrant immune response, was diagnosed in a domestic ferret (Mustela putorius furo) based on clinical signs and skin biopsies, and this seems to be the first case report of this dermal disease in the ferret. This article discusses treatment and response, and reviews the small animal literature as it relates to disease pathophysiology and treatment.
