This paper reports on a case of oral melanosis resultng from Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome, a hereditary disease characterized by harmatomatous polyposis and by mucocutaneous melanic pigmentation, in a 14-year-old Fijian girl with a family history of the disease. The patient underwent surgery for treatment of an intestinal obstruction due to a small intestine intussusception. Recognition of the characteristic pigmentation by dentists may lead to early diagnosis of associated harmatomatous polyps or neoplastic disease that may be life threatening.

Larsen syndrome is characterized by multiple congenital joint dislocations, typical skeletal defects and facial dysmorphism. In this article, we present a female patient with asymmetric Larsen syndrome. We hypothesise that the asymmetric distribution of clinical features in our patient is likely caused by post-zygotic somatic cell-line mosaicism of a dominant gene mutation.

A child with complete syndactyly of cup shaped hands and mirror polysyndactyly of the feet, together with a nasal defect, was identified out of a total of 1,031,439 livebirths. She had a pattern of multiple congenital anomalies which was similar to that first described by Laurin et al in 1964 and by Sandrow et al in 1970. Two more cases with a similar pattern of congenital anomalies have recently been published so this is the fifth reported case with this constellation.

We report on a 2 1/2-year-old boy with absence of clavicular head of pectoralis major on the left side, ipsilateral upper limb anomalies, and anomalies of the lower limbs such as popliteal webbing, median cleft of right foot, bifid left hallux, syndactyly of toes, and toenail hypoplasia. Other anomalies included undescended testis, hairy nevus in the lumbosacral region, and a pedunculated finger-like tag on the right thigh. The pathogenesis of these associated anomalies cannot be explained on the basis of compromised local blood supply alone. A possible link with the disorganization mutation i

BACKGROUND: Combination therapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and cytotoxic or targeted anticancer agents has improved survival i … ULTS: Of 7287 identified articles, 28 met inclusion criteria. Studies assessed capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome (HFS), multikinase inhibitor-induced hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR), taxane-induced alopecia, and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor-related skin toxicities. The incidence of capecitabine-related HFS (11/13 articles) and EGFR inhibito …

Milia-like idiopathic calcinosis cutis (MICC) is a very rare dermatological disorder characterized by multiple whitish to skin colored, milia-like papules, mostly found on the hands. MICC can disappear spontaneously by adulthood; therefore, its early recognition is crucial to avoiding unnecessary interventions. Herein, we present a case of MICC in a 6-year-old girl with Down syndrome.

We here provide an update on the clinical, genetic, and molecular aspects of split-hand/foot malformation (SHFM). This rare condition, affecting 1 in 8,500-25,000 newborns, is extremely complex because of its variability in clinical presentation, irregularities in its inheritance pattern, and the heterogeneity of molecular genetic alterations that can be found in affected individuals. Both syndromal and nonsyndromal forms are reviewed and the major molecular genetic alterations thus far reported in association with SHFM are discussed. This updated overview should be helpful for clinicians in t

Oro-facial-digital syndrome type II (OFD-II) is characterized by frenulated tongue, midline cleft lip, high arched or cleft palate, micrognathia, syndactyly and polydactyly, bilateral reduplicated hallux, conductive hearing loss, choroidal coloboma and normal intelligence. There are nine forms of oro-facial-digital syndromes with different modes of inheritance. A young female with features of oro-facio-digital syndrome type-II is being reported.

A 28-year-old female born to consanguineous parents, presented with progressive palmoplantar keratoderma since the age of six months and a constricting band on right fourth finger of one year duration. There was history of similar complaints being present in two other family members. Associated clinical findings included starfish-shaped cornified plaques on knuckles, resorption of distal phalanges and keratotic plaques on elbows, groins and knees. The patient was mentally sound and had normal audiometry. Biopsy from hyperkeratotic plaque showed hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, increased granular

A sibling pair with brachydactyly type B born to a normal non-consanguineous couple are described and the severity of their condition discussed. It is proposed that a subgroup of individuals with brachydactyly type B principally involving the nails and distal phalanges, and also having distinct facies, might be identical to individuals having 'Cooks syndrome'.

We report on 2 families having members affected with the Poland sequence and Adams-Oliver syndrome. In the first family, a 5-month-old boy presented with Adams-Oliver syndrome; his mother had Poland sequence. In the second family, a 12-year-old boy and his mother presented with findings suggestive of Adams-Oliver syndrome and Poland sequence. This suggests that the same genetic predisposition may result in either or both conditions.

Twenty cases of microgeodic disease affecting the hands or feet of children are presented, and the relevant literature is reviewed. Clinical features include chilblain-like appearance and tenderness of the involved digits. Radiographically patchy osteoporosis of the diaphysis and/or sclerosis of the diaphysis and rarefaction of the metaphysis with cortical erosion is evident, often accompanied by subperiosteal new bone formation. Characteristically, this condition occurs in winter and resolves spontaneously within 6 months clinically and radiographically. This lesion appears to result from vas

We studied a white skin type 3 male patient aged 68 years old with a paraneoplastic acrokeratosis of Bazex, suffering from an oesophagus neoplasm. Cutaneous manifestations preceded in months the cancer. Dermatosis affected fingers of hands and feet, soles, nose and helix. Black melanic hyperpigmentation was the first cutaneous sign and were followed by an hyperkeratosis, becoming the most clinical characteristic of the syndrome. The sequence of these signs induces us to suggest that hormonal factors elaborated by the tumoral cells are the ones responsible for the pigmentary changes since they
