People with profound hearing loss show differences in language-related cognitive functions that may affect decision-making processes, but few studies have examined their decision-making behavior. The present study examined the relationships among measures that purportedly assess emotional intelligence (EI), social cognition, and emotional decision making within a sample of nonclinical undergraduate participants. To characterize the association between county-level risk factors and the incidence of mumps in the 2006 Iowa outbreak, we used generalized linear mixed models with the number of mumps cases per county as the dependent variable. From 1915 to 1952, 31 hips in 28 patients with slipped capital femoral epiphysis were observed without interventional treatment at the University of Iowa Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
