Fasting serum pyridoxal was assayed by an automated microbiological system in 50 patients with endoscopically confirmed active peptic ulceration. Thirty patients had gastric ulceration, 14 had duodenal, four had pyloric canal ulceration, and two had both a gastric and a duodenal ulcer. Serum pyridoxal was below normal in 28 of the gastric ulcer group and in one of the duodenal ulcer group. No difference in the age, sex, drug, alcohol intake, or diet could be distinguished between those two groups.

OBJECTIVES: Mental health disorders are major contributors to disease burden in older people. Deficient status of folate and the metabolically related B vitamins may be implicated in these conditions. This study aimed to investigate folate, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and riboflavin in relation to depression and anxiety in aging and also considered the role of fortified foods as a means of optimizing B-vitamin status and potentially reducing the risk of these mental health disorders.

PURPOSE: Intrahepatic thrombus is usually associated with either cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Most HCCs enhance after the administration of MnDPDP (Teslascan). Our objective was to analyze the enhancement characteristics of tumour portal vein thrombi.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thrombi affecting the main or segmental portal veins (17 cases) and the suprahepatic inferior vena cava (1 case) were retrospectively selected from a series of 128 patients studied with MR imaging before and after the administration of MnDPDP.
