The Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome is composed of vaginal atresia with other variable Müllerian duct abnormalities such as bicornuate or septated uterus. The fallopian tubes, ovaries, and broad and round ligaments are normal. Unilateral renal and skeletal anomalies are associated in 50% and 12% of cases, respectively. Patients have a normal female karyotype and normal secondary sexual development. Previously, one had to rely on radiographic contrast studies and surgical exploration for accurate definition of the reproductive tract anatomy. The authors performed ultrasound (US) examina

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the prevalence of congenital uterine anomalies in subfertile women and to evaluate their influence on early pregnancy following assisted reproduction treatment (ART).
METHODS: We prospectively recruited 1402 subjects undergoing ART over a period of 5 years from 2005 to 2009. Three-dimensional transvaginal sonography was performed in the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle (days 2-5) and repeated in the late follicular phase (days 10-14) if the shape of the uterine cavity could not be assessed at the first scan. All subjects who conceived following ART were fol

INTRODUCTION: Congenital uterine malformations are often associated with uncertainty regarding pregnancy outcomes and reproductive counseling. Data on obstetric outcomes stratified by detailed anatomical classification remain limited.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this retrospective observational case series, pregnancy and delivery outcomes were analyzed in women with congenital uterine malformations classified according to the VCUAM system. The cohort included 95 deliveries in women with septate (U1, n = 49), bicornuate (U2, n = 40), or unicornuate (U4a, n = 6) uterus managed at a tertiary perin

Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) refers to an aetiologically heterogenous condition, which consists of joint contractures affecting two or more joints starting prenatally. The incidence is approximately one in 3000 live births; however, the prenatal incidence is higher, indicating a high intrauterine mortality. Over 320 genes have been implicated showing the genetic heterogeneity of the condition. AMC can be of extrinsic aetiology resulting from intrauterine crowding secondary to congenital structural uterine abnormalities (eg, bicornuate or septate uterus), uterine tumors (eg, fibroid

The main goal of our study was to assess the true incidence of surgically correctable uterine abnormalities (congenital uterine anomalies, submucous leiomyoma, endometrial polyps and intrauterine synechiae) in the infertile population attending our tertiary infertility clinic. All of the infertile patients enrolled in the study were evaluated by three-dimensional ultrasound. Another objective was to assess pregnancy rates before and after operative hysteroscopy in patients affected by uterine causes of infertility. Good quality 3D images were obtained in all 3850 infertile patients, and in 23.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: Maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 5 (MODY5) is caused by a hepatocyte nuclear factor 1β (HNF1β) gene mutation on chromosome 17q12. HNF1β mutations have also been found in ovarian clear cell carcinoma, whereas ovarian non-clear cell carcinoma expresses this mutation rarely. 17q12 recurrent deletion syndrome features include MODY5, urogenital anomalies, and psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. This is a report of a patient with 17q12 recurrent deletion syndrome with MODY5, uterine abnormalities, and low-grade serous ovarian cancer.

Congenital uterine anomalies are an important yet frequently overlooked cause of female infertility, with a septate uterus representing the most common developmental anomaly of the uterine cavity. Although some affected women remain asymptomatic, others present with infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, or adverse obstetric outcomes, making early recognition essential for appropriate management. We report the case of a 26-year-old nulligravid woman from Azerbaijan who presented with primary infertility of three years' duration despite regular menstrual cycles and an otherwise unremarkable inf

Congenital anomalies of the reproductive system represent a heterogeneous group of structural and functional abnormalities affecting both male and female genital organs. These anomalies typically arise during embryogenesis and may remain asymptomatic until they are incidentally identified during evaluation for infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, or disorders of sexual development. In females, abnormalities include Müllerian duct anomalies and congenital malformations of the uterus, cervix, vagina, and ovaries, such as Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome, septate, unicornuate, bicornuate

PURPOSE: Abnormalities during Müllerian duct and female reproductive tract formation during embryonic development result in Müllerian duct anomalies (MDA). Previous studies have identified a role for mutations in related genes and DNA copy number variation (CNV). However, the correlation between gene methylation and MDA remains to be understood.
METHODS: Endometrial tissues were collected from patients with septate (n = 23) or normal uterus (n = 28). We detected the methylation status of CpG sites and mRNA levels of nine candidate genes, including HOXA10, EMX2, TP63, ITGB3, PAX2, LHX1, GSC, W
