OBJECTIVES: This collaborative retrospective study was undertaken at Royal Medical Services Hospital, Amman, Jordan, between 1993 through to 2000. Its purpose was to assess the difference in terms of morbidity and mortality in neonates with gastroschisis delivered by cesarean section versus vaginal delivery.
METHODS: The records of all neonates born with gastroschisis (n=40, 26 females, 14 males) from 1993-2000 were analyzed. The mode of delivery was noted. Those babies delivered by cesarean section (n=22) were labelled group one, while those delivered vaginally (n=18) were labelled group 2.

BACKGROUND: In the past, the main problem of transscleral cyclophotocoagulation was related to the energy dosage of the individual effect. In a retrospective analysis of 264 episodes of ambulatory electrocardiography (AECG) in 252 elderly out-patients the overall diagnostic yield was only 12 per cent. However, AECG was found to be of significant value in detecting symptomatic tachyarrhythmias, and in confirming the diagnosis of the 'sick sinus syndrome'. The AECG results influenced the management plan in at least 16 per cent, and changes in drug treatment in 10 per cent. Factors such as cause of the trauma, concomitant injuries, and cervical sagittal spinal canal size were compared between survivors and nonsurvivors of cervical spine injuries. Traffic accidents were more commonly the cause of the trauma among nonsurvivors (76%) than among survivors (50%). Between January 1976 and March 1982, 28 episodes of pneumonia occurred in 26 renal transplant patients. The overall mortality rate was 46%. This work presents the results of the conservative treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. 315 cases hospitalized between 1965 and 1976 were analysed. The study was carried out regarding results, number of relapses, kind of diagnosis, symptoms and other parameters in dependence on form of therapy. In 18 cases serious complications were observed. A three week intensive treatment program for adult stutterers is described. This treatment has evolved from an original program developed by Ingham and Andrews (1973) using speech prolongation techniques, gradual shaping of speech rate to normal, and systematic transfer of skills acquired in the clinic to real life situations.
