The impact of continuous telemetry of atrial electrogram and marker annotations on Holter ECG interpretation was assessed in 98 patients with bipolar dual chamber pacemakers (VDD pacemakers n = 29, DDD(R) systems n = 69). Atrial electrogram and marker annotations were continuously sampled by a telemetry coil that was externally positioned on the pacemaker pocket, amplified, and transduced to a three-channel Holter ECG recorder in addition to an ECG recording. We made continuous electrocardiographic recordings on magnetic tape during 15 episodes of ischemia in five patients with variant angina to determine the characteristics of the QRS changes. Orthogonal leads were used and the electrocardiograms were analyzed visually and by digital computer. Changes were quantified by subtracting baseline electrocardiograms from those obtained during ischemia. Large changes in the QRS occurred during ischemia but the waveform quickly returned to baseline when the episode subsided. The authors evaluate the results of a videocolposcopy test (330 total cases, 12 cases of histologically confirmed CIN2 or more severe lesions) taken by 9 accredited and 17 unaccredited colposcopists during 1995. Seven of 9 accredited and 4 of 13 unaccredited colposcopists reached the requested standard (sensitivity > 90%, biopsy rate < 60%). We studied oral hygiene instruction given to 109 patients in 19 Washington State dental practices to investigate the extent to which therapists targeted their efforts toward patients with high disease risk. Patients were examined prior to instruction and prophylaxes. Therapists' instructions were tape-recorded and their content analyzed: therapists' expectations were scored. There were no statistically significant associations between patients' initial plaque levels and the process/content of the oral hygiene instructions delivered. A 33 year old male with three years of increasingly frequent nocturnal angina pectoris was found on ECG tape monitoring to develop marked ST segment elevation followed by coarse ventricular tachycardia with subsequent spontaneous termination of the arrhythmia. AIM: Disability in childhood remains a challenge globally. Linked to this disability is an apparent increase in the prevalence of infants born with congenital clubfoot. Clubfoot can, however, be effectively managed but this management faces various challenges. This study aims at exploring the barriers experienced in Kenya.
