We report on a 6-year-old boy with a huge right coronary artery to the right ventricle fistula, who had previously been treated by device closure at the right ventricular exit point. However, 3 years later, the right coronary artery aneurysm showed progressively dilation and compressed the right ventricle. To prevent further complications related to the aneurysm, the proximal part of the aneurysm was successfully occluded by a vascular plug.

We present a case of inadvertent subclavian arterial puncture and lead placement to the left ventricle in a patient undergoing cardiac resynchronization therapy. We describe the use of a "push-pull" technique within an arterial setting to allow removal of the lead, while maintaining access through the same puncture to allow an arterial-closure device to then seal the artery at this site. As a result of this percutaneous approach, the patient avoided the need for a vascular surgical procedure.

BACKGROUND: Transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in premature infants has been shown to be feasible in small series. Outcomes in larger series are currently lacking.
MATERIAL: All premature infants (< 36 weeks GA) who underwent transcatheter PDA closure were included in a multicenter French national survey. Demographic data (gestational age [GA], birth weight [BW]) and procedural data (weight [PW], age at procedure [AP], procedural success, fluoroscopy time, and type of device) were collected. Outcomes and procedural complications were reviewed.
RESULTS: Between September

BACKGROUND: Leadless cardiac pacemaker (LCP) requires large-caliber venous sheaths for device placement. Sheath sizes for these procedures vary from 18- to 23-French (F). The most common complications are hematomas, pseudoaneurysms, and arteriovenous fistulas. Complete and secure closure of the venous access is an important step at the end of such a procedure.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of all patients who had undergone LCP implantation at our institution. Patients and procedural characteristics as well as groin complications at 30 days and 3 months were evaluated. After s

Port-site incisional hernia (PIH) remains a clinically relevant complication of laparoscopic surgery, particularly at 10-12 mm trocar sites and in patients with obesity or other predisposing factors. Despite the large number of fascial closure methods reported, no universally accepted standard has emerged, and the cost or limited availability of dedicated devices may restrict their routine use. In this context, we evaluated the safety and feasibility of a novel Veress needle-based port-site closure technique and, in parallel, performed a structured literature review to contextualize its potent

Background and Objectives: Patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) frequently present with concomitant peripheral artery disease (PAD), which complicates transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and increases the risk of vascular complications. Early identification of significant PAD may facilitate optimized procedural planning and risk stratification. This study aimed to develop and internally validate a clinical score for estimating the likelihood of significant PAD in patients with severe AS undergoing TAVI evaluation and to exploratorily assess its association with femoral access-s

Superior mesenteric arteriovenous fistula (SMAVF) is a rare postoperative vascular abnormality that can mimic more common causes of pulsatile abdominal masses. We report the case of a 49-year-old man with a history of laparotomy for volvulus 20 years earlier who presented with a pulsatile epigastric mass. Computed tomography angiography identified a 10 × 12 mm SMAVF, confirmed on angiography. Endovascular closure using a single Amplatzer vascular plug achieved complete occlusion without complications. This case underscores the importance of considering SMAVF in patients with atypical abdominal

BACKGROUND: Recent advances in miniaturization of phased-array and mechanical ultrasound devices have resulted in exploration of alternative approaches to cardiac and vascular imaging in the form of transesophageal or intravascular imaging. Preliminary efforts in adapting phased-array endoscopes designed for transesophageal use to a transvascular approach have used full-sized phased-array devices introduced directly into the right atrium in open-chested animals. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of using a custom-made, very small phased-array endoscope for intracardiac im

Catheter therapy has gained an important role in the treatment of congenital heart disease. The cumulative experience with vascular and valvular balloon dilations has demonstrated low mortality and morbidity with short-term results similar to surgery. Currently, balloon dilation is an accepted treatment for valvular pulmonary stenosis, distal pulmonary artery stenosis, recurrent coarctation, rheumatic mitral stenosis, congenital valvular aortic stenosis, and intra-atrial baffle obstruction. Except for patients at high surgical risk, balloon dilation of native coarctation is considered investig

BACKGROUND: The successful management of ventricular septal defect (VSD) has been possible through the development of advanced techniques. In this regard, percutaneous VSD closure by employing different types of occluders as an alternative for surgery can help to achieve the most desirable postprocedural consequences. However, the studies reported contradictory results on the use of different brands of VSD occluders. Herein, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies to assess pooled long-term success rate and potential complications of using the Nit-Occlud Lê VSD

As minimally invasive surgical techniques progress, the demand for efficient, reliable methods for vascular ligation and tissue closure becomes pronounced. The surgical advantages of energy-based vessel sealing exceed those of traditional, compression-based ligatures in procedures sensitive to duration, foreign bodies, and recovery time alike. Although the use of energy-based devices to seal or transect vasculature and connective tissue bundles is widespread, the breadth of heating strategies and energy dosimetry used across devices underscores an uncertainty as to the molecular nature of the
