Job histories in open employment of a population of young adults with mental retardation: I.

Job histories were obtained for a population of young adults with mental retardation. No one with IQ less than 50 had been in open employment. Persons with mild mental retardation (n = 100) who received no adult services were compared to peers who were not retarded (n = 52) who left school without academic qualifications on a variety of job measures (e.g., unemployment, time out of the labor force, job turnover, level of job skill, and take-home pay). Traumatic amputation of the upper limb: the use of body-powered prostheses and employment consequences.

Forty three patients with unilateral traumatic amputations were reviewed as to the use of prostheses and employment consequences of the amputation. Seventeen of 19 below-elbow amputees, and 12 of 24 above-elbow amputees used their prostheses. Non-users compared to users of prostheses were characterized by: 1) Higher level of amputation 2) Non-dominant arm amputation and 3) Younger age at the time of amputation. However non-users usually did well on the labour market for various reasons.

In the digital era, digital literacy has emerged as a critical determinant of employment quality in the labor market. Using nationally representative data from the 2022 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this study constructs multidimensional indices of digital literacy and employment quality. Ordinary least squares (OLS) regressions, robustness checks, and moderation models are employed to examine the relationships between these variables and the underlying mechanisms.
