Design of Personal Health Libraries for People Returning from Incarceration in the United States.

Individuals with a history of incarceration face many barriers to accessing resources to meet their basic needs when returning to community settings. Digital health tools have potential to reduce health inequities by facilitating connections to health and social services, and peer support. This study aimed to employ a user-centered design approach to create a digital Personal Health Library (PerHL) for previously incarcerated individuals. The design process included in-depth interviews followed by rapid analysis, interpretation sessions, and user experience/user interface (UX/UI) design of a h

Septic shock in the prehospital setting: a scoping review.

Septic shock (SS) is a potential life-threatening condition in which an early identification and immediate therapy stand out as the main cornerstones to improve survival chance; in this context, emergency medical services (EMS) become key to reduce the time between diagnosis and management in the ICU or emergency department. However, guidelines for the prehospital management of SS patients remains unclear, and literature around this topic is scant. Our scoping review was conducted following the PICO framework and a search strategy related to septic shock management and diagnosis in prehospital

Systematic review and meta-analysis: assessing the accuracy of rapid immunochromatographic tests in dengue diagnosis.

The objective of this systematic review is to analyze the diagnostic accuracy of rapid dengue diagnostic tests. The search was conducted in the following databases: LILACS, Medline (Pubmed), CRD, The Cochrane Library, Trip Medical Database and Google Scholar. ELISA and PCR assays were adopted as reference methods. Thirty-four articles were included in this systematic review. [A pregnancy of 10-years duration].

In January 1813 the peasant woman Randi Jonsdatter from Kvikne in Hedmark had been pregnant for 10 years. One day she slipped in her cattle-shed, and soon after "gave birth" to the remains of a decomposed stone child (lithopaedion) through an incision above her navel. The woman, who was about 50 years old, lived for many years after the "birth". This is the earliest known Norwegian case of a lithopaedion, a dead calcified fetus from an extra uterine pregnancy. The case is documented in a letter written only three months after the event. This letter is now archived in The Norwegian National Lib

Biomagnetic methodologies for the noninvasive investigations of the human brain (MAGNOBRAIN).

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) non-invasively infers the distribution of electric currents in the brain by measuring the magnetic fields they induce. Its superb spatial and temporal resolution provides a solid basis for the 'functional imaging' of the brain provided it is integrated with other brain imaging techniques. MAGNOBRAIN is an applied research project that developed tools to integrate MEG with MRI and EEG. These include: (1) software for MEG oriented MRI feature extraction; (2) the Brain Data Base (BDB) which is a reference library of information on the brain used for more realistic and

[The Effects of the Question Prompt List on Usefulness, Satisfaction and Anxiety in Patients With Terminal Cancer: A Meta-Analysis].

BACKGROUND: Difficulties and anxiety caused by poor communication between patients with terminal cancer and their caregivers and medical teams are common in clinical practice. This may lead to uncertainty and fear of treatment, affecting the progress of treatment and achievement of hospice-care goals. The results of prior research indicate that using a question prompt list to promote shared decision-making can improve communication between medical care providers and patients. PURPOSE: This study was developed to explore the effectiveness of using question prompt lists in communications with t

The Effectiveness and Safety of Yi Shen Juan Bi Pill on Rheumatoid Arthritis: a Protocol for Systematic Review and/or Meta-Analysis.

IMPORTANCE: The Yi Shen Juan Bi (YSJB) pill has been used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with several studies reporting its anti-inflammatory effects and ability to prevent bone destruction. However, the lack of evidence regarding the effectiveness and toxicity of individual components of YSJB limits its widespread use. OBJECTIVE: This protocol outlines a systematic review and/or meta-analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of YSJB. Disease-Associated Systemic Complications in Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome: A Systematic Review.

INTRODUCTION: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is one of the most common childhood kidney diseases. During the active phase, the disease pathogenesis affects various biological functions linked to loss of proteins negatively, which can result in systemic complications. Complications of childhood NS are divided into two categories: disease-associated complications and drug-associated complications. However, complications in pediatric patients with NS, especially disease-associated complications are still limited. Although reported in the literature, information is not comprehensive and needs to be updat
