In multiple pregnancies, survival of remaining fetuses after premature death and delivery of one fetus is uncommon. We report a case of a triplet pregnancy that was reduced to twins at the 14th gestational week and then had preterm premature rupture of membranes and intrauterine fetal death of one twin at the 17th gestational week. Triplet pregnancy is an uncommon event. The chance that one or more fetuses will suffer intrauterine death in such a pregnancy is one in six, yet the mechanism of those fetal deaths is poorly understood. This paper reports on the delivery of a surviving triplet after the demise, many weeks apart, of the other two fetuses in an unrecognized triplet pregnancy.

We describe trends in the rates of admission of preterm twin and triplet infants to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across Canada and compare their neonatal outcomes over a 6-year period.
