Ancylostoma ceylanicum is the second most common hookworm infecting humans in the Asia-Pacific region. Recent reports suggest presence of the parasite in the Americas. We report A. ceylanicum infections in coyotes from the Guanacaste Conservation Area, Costa Rica. Our findings call for active surveillance in humans and animals.

Laurence Moon Bardet Biedl Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder. Consanguineous marriage is usually the common cause. Principal features of Bardet Biedl Syndrome are red cone dystrophy, obesity, polydactyl, hypogonadism and renal anomalies. The diagnosis was overlooked in our patient until he came in our hospital. We here report an infrequent case of autosomal recessive disorder with Anaemia.

Five gram stool sample from dog infected with Ancylostoma caninum was smeared on filter paper for routine cultivation under 35 degrees C with moist condition for 24 hours. Hookworm larvae were separated and divided into 3 bottles through precipitation-washing method. The larva of hookworm matures into the adult stage in the small intestine, causing chronic intestinal blood loss and iron-deficiency anemia. Hookworm infestation of colon has not been reported previously. We report a 35-year-old man who presented with diarrhea with blood and mucus in stools. Colonoscopy revealed several hookworms in the colon firmly adherent to the mucosa, with oozing of blood and surrounding mucosal erosions. He was treated with mebendazole and symptoms recovered completely.

A male pitbull terrier was presented with a history of stranguria and depression. On clinical and radiological examination a suspected necrogranuloma of the caudal os penis, which obstructed the urethra, was found. The necrogranuloma was removed surgically and contained blood and necrotic tissue as well as several adult male and female Ancylostoma caninum worms. The urethral obstruction resulted in post-renal azotaemia, hydronephrosis and eventually bladder rupture. A rare case of aberrant migration of A. caninum to the os penis of a dog is described.
