Tuberous sclerosis complex is an autosomal dominant disorder that can cause nonmalignant hamartomas in any organ. Angiofibromas are the most disturbing marker of the disease because they are conspicuously present on the face. Lipofuscin is a conjugated Schiff base delivered from reaction of malonylodialdehyde with proteins, amino acids and phosphatidylethanolamines. It emits yellow-green autofluorescence in ultraviolet light. It is believed to be one of the parameters of oxidation stress in vivo. Increased amount of lipofuscin in the blood has been found in uremia, diabetes, aging process, adult respiratory distress syndrome and multiple organ failure.

Cutaneous AL amyloidosis is one complication of multiple myeloma. In our patient, painful sclerotic skin changes on the extremities and macroglossia were the presenting features which led to a more detailed investigation and the diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Histological examination revealed cutaneous deposits of amyloid which were positive with Congo red stain and had an apple green color in polarized light.

Euglena gracilis is a flagellate photosynthetic microalga that, thanks to its metabolic adaptability, can grow under both autotrophic and heterotrophic conditions. We report three cases of histologically verified systemic amyloidosis with polyneuropathy. Common to them were early onset progressive peripheral sensorimotor disturbance starting in the legs and prominent autonomic dysfunctions such as postural hypotension, anhidrosis, and loss of pupillary light reflexes.
