"All my food is customized*": Barriers & facilitators concerning nutrition for persons living with cystic fibrosis.

BACKGROUND: Maintaining optimal nutrition is often an important concern for persons with cystic fibrosis (PWCF). With the introduction of effective modulators, the focus has now shifted from preventing malnourishment to instead stabilizing weight and preventing further weight gain. Research on how PWCF experience and manage their nutrition in this new era remains limited. METHODS: The Exploring Attitudes Toward Nutrition (EATN) study employed a qualitative, multi-site approach to conduct semi-structured interviews with 44 adults living with CF. These interviews explored participants' definiti

Parents' experiences of the financial and employment impacts of their child receiving end-of-life care: a national qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Bereaved parents are at higher risk of poor mental and physical health outcomes than people bereaved under other circumstances. These challenges are exacerbated by the continued effects on parents' working lives and the financial strain of a child receiving end-of-life care. There has been very little recent research of parents' experiences of these impacts. Analysis of data from the second workstream of a national research programme on end-of-life care for infants, children and young people (ENHANCE) aimed to understand parents' experiences of the impact on their finances and work

Study on Life Satisfaction of the Elderly Based on Healthy Aging.

The life satisfaction of the elderly is the key to subjective well-being and healthy aging. Many related studies are focused on the affected factors, including health status, economic level, social support, pension mode, social security, and intergenerational support, etc., but few are based on the macro perspective of healthy aging. This study constructed a healthy aging evaluation system with 6 dimensions, including 15 primary indicators and 57 secondary indicators, to evaluate the relationship between healthy aging and elderly life satisfaction. Results showed that the 13168 participants we

Detection, treatment, and control of adult hypertension in northwest Indiana. Ispat Inland/United Steelworkers of America Health Care Network.

Recent data from the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES-IIIB) suggest that detection and treatment of hypertension is improving, but only 27.4% of American hypertensives achieved controlled blood pressure ([BP] < 140 and < 90 mm Hg). Our objective was to assess the degree of BP control in a group of steelworkers and their families whose health care is financed by a large corporation. A random sample of 792 adults (age > 18 years, average 55 +/- 1 years, 50.4% male) was selected from a roster of patients who were known (from claims data) to have visited a physician i

Progress in family planning in Sierra Leone: a mixed-methods case study.

INTRODUCTION: Expanding access to voluntary family planning is a global health priority, yet progress has been uneven across low-income and middle-income countries. Despite being a fragile state with historically high fertility and limited health resources, Sierra Leone has achieved one of the fastest increases in modern contraceptive prevalence in sub-Saharan Africa. This study explores the drivers of this progress through a mixed-methods case study. METHODS: We analysed national-level data from urban and rural settings, and engaged diverse stakeholders including family planning professional
