Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory corneal disease associated with a cone-shaped protrusion and progressive corneal thinning. Apart from progression control and stabilizing interventions, correcting the optical error induced by a mostly highly irregular corneal surface is of paramount importance with respect to quality of life and ability to work. This goal can be achieved efficiently by contact lenses with only rare adverse conditions. This article provides a current overview on contact lens fitting in keratoconus and presents own associated results.

INTRODUCTION: Kinking of the Frozen Elephant Trunk (FET) stent graft is one of the most devastating complications of the FET procedure. It can present post-operatively with reduced arterial pressures in the lower limbs and intermittent claudication. However, it can also be visualized intra-operatively by the surgeons. Unresolved kinking of the stent graft can result in intraluminal thrombus formation and subsequent multi-organ septic emboli.

Humans rely on both proprioceptive and visual feedback during reaching, integrating these two sensory streams to improve movement accuracy and precision. Patients using a brain-computer interface will similarly require artificial proprioceptive feedback in addition to vision to finely control a prosthesis. Recent improvements in cataract surgery and intraocular lens (IOL) technology have allowed rapid improvement in quality visual acuity. Cataract surgeons can also reliably reduce a patient's dependency on spectacles. Through careful monitoring of implant power calculations to improve their accuracy and reduce unwanted astigmatism, our patients are now able to enjoy clear, uncorrected vision. Newer technology, such as multifocal IOLs and accommodating IOLs, can provide a return to prepresbyopic visual acuity for the cataract patient.
