Digital Twin Control Framework Uncovers Individualized Cross-Scale Links Between Functional Connectivity Deviations, Communication Impairment, and Molecular Mechanisms in Autism.

BACKGROUND: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is hallmarked by pronounced inter-individual heterogeneity in brain function and clinical manifestations. Conventional neuroimaging studies yield highly inconsistent findings, as extrinsic confounding factors and intrinsic disease heterogeneity mask ASD-specific functional connectivity (FC) signatures, hampering the identification of individualized neural mechanisms linked to symptom severity. METHODS: We developed a digital twin control analytical framework based on deep contrastive learning. By comparing each ASD participant with their matched digi

Gender Differences in the Development of Growth and Fixed Mindsets Among Chinese Adolescents: A Cross-Lagged Panel Network Analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Students' mindsets about the malleability of their abilities shape their academic performance, social adaptation, and psychological well-being, making it important to track how these beliefs change during adolescence. Although mindsets undergo substantial change in this period, most studies have used latent variable models that ignore the dynamic interactions among mindset items. Examining how specific items change over time can thus reveal how mindsets develop and whether this process differs between boys and girls. METHODS: This study examined the temporal links among the 10 g

Developmental Systems Cardiology III: Measuring Adaptation Across the Lifespan.

Developmental Systems Cardiology (DSC) conceptualizes congenital heart disease as a lifelong adaptive process shaped by interactions among biological, developmental, psychosocial, environmental, and healthcare systems. As survival has improved, contemporary challenges increasingly include neurodevelopment, psychosocial wellbeing, educational participation, healthcare engagement, and long-term adaptation, requiring multidimensional assessment beyond traditional physiological outcomes. This third article in the DSC series proposes a measurement framework for operationalizing adaptation across th

Fear-related psychological experiences in people with Parkinson's disease: a systematic review of qualitative studies.

BACKGROUND: Fear is a multifaceted and pervasive phenomenon among people with Parkinson's disease. Although some qualitative studies have explored fear-related psychological experiences in this population, there remains a lack of comprehensive integration of these insights. This study aimed to synthesize existing qualitative research on fear-related emotional experiences in people with Parkinson's disease, and to provide a theoretical basis for developing effective psychological interventions in clinical practice. METHODS: A comprehensive computer-based search was conducted across 11 database

Comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation for post-tuberculosis lung disease: a narrative review.

Around 155 million people worldwide are tuberculosis (TB) survivors, many of whom experience post-tuberculosis lung disease (PTLD), characterized by structural lung abnormalities, impaired pulmonary function, persistent respiratory symptoms, reduced exercise capacity, and poorer quality of life. The burden of PTLD is particularly important in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where access to pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) and long-term post-TB care remains limited. This narrative review synthesizes current evidence on comprehensive PR for PTLD and considers its implementation across div

The relationship between digital literacy and academic innovative behavior among STEM students: the mediating roles of knowledge-sharing intention and creative self-efficacy.

INTRODUCTION: With the deep integration of digital technologies into higher education, digital literacy has become a key antecedent influencing college students' academic innovative behavior, yet its underlying mechanism remains insufficiently explored. Unlike previous studies that have focused primarily on a single mediating pathway, this study draws on knowledge creation theory and social cognitive theory to propose a parallel mediation model, aiming to simultaneously examine the unique roles of the "intention-based pathway," represented by knowledge-sharing intention, and the "belief pathwa

The patient as teacher: a four-phase blueprint for institutional change.

INTRODUCTION: Over recent decades, patient involvement in medical education has shifted from passive case demonstrations toward active partnerships in teaching, assessment, and curriculum design, a transition that must recognize patients and relatives as persons with experiential knowledge, not merely as educational instruments. This perspective article argues that accumulated evidence now justifies a deliberate shift from scattered, champion-driven initiatives to embedded institutional strategy. EVIDENCE AND GAPS: The evidence supports meaningful benefits across stakeholders: learners develo

From niche to notable: Population, husbandry and use of Austrian llamas and alpacas from a nationwide survey.

South American camelids (SAC; llamas and alpacas) have expanded across Europe, yet registration, traceability and husbandry evidence remain inconsistent. A nationwide, cross-sectional survey of Austrian SAC owners (61 items; Jan-Jun 2024) was distributed via associations, social media and direct outreach. Responses from 448 holdings in all nine federal provinces were analysed descriptively. Most holdings kept alpacas (alpaca only 70.5%; llama only 13.0%; mixed 16.5%). Combining registered holdings with reported herd sizes yielded an estimated national population of about 26,891 SACs-substantia

Oral health care for Australians living with mental ill-health: unaffordable, inaccessible and invisible.

INTRODUCTION: Poor oral health is a common, but overlooked, issue among people with serious mental ill-health who experience higher rates of dental caries and periodontal disease, leading to increased hospital admissions. Despite its preventability, oral health remains largely absent from Australian mental healthcare policy and service delivery. METHODS: This two-phase study (1) systematically reviewed oral health integration within Australian oral and mental health policy and competitive funding mechanisms; and (2) qualitatively explored the experiences and prioritising of oral health care b

Early Assessment of Neurodevelopmental Scales Correlates With Positive M-CHAT Screening in 24-Month-Old Infants.

BACKGROUND: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social communication and repetitive behaviors. Early identification of high-risk infants is crucial for intervention and long-term outcomes. This study explored the association between early neurological development from 12 to 15 months and the related risk factors for ASD, with a primary focus on M-CHAT status at 24 months as the screening outcome, and the impact of family history, prematurity, and sleep disorders. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 50 children aged 24 mon

Development of prison-based parent-child joint intervention for incarcerated fathers: protocol for mixed-methods study.

INTRODUCTION: Paternal incarceration represents a significant stressor that disrupts family cohesion, undermines paternal identity and adversely affects children's psychosocial well-being. While family-focused programmes show promise in improving outcomes for incarcerated parents and their children, culturally attuned prison-based parenting interventions remain underdeveloped and scarce, particularly in Asian contexts. To address this gap, a local parenting intervention grounded in the Double ABCX model of family resilience, the 'Be My Hero' programme, was designed for incarcerated fathers in
