Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) is a critical condition that requires rapid and effective intervention. Although thrombin is a widely used hemostatic agent, its efficacy is limited in the harsh environment of the digestive tract, especially in patients with chronic liver disease or coagulation disorders. We present a case of primary hyperparathyroidism with severe hypercalcaemia, treated successfully with ultrasound (US) guided percutaneous interstitial laser photocoagulation (ILP) of a single parathyroid tumour. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of ILP applied in primary hyperparathyroidism. US guided thermic tissue coagulation with ILP may be a non-surgical alternative in patients with symptomatic hypercalcaemia due to a parathyroid tumour when surgery is contraindicated.

UNLABELLED: The hypertrophic Port Wine Stain (PWS) is only partially and superficially treated with the Pulsed dye laser (PDL) because of its limited depth of penetration. We used combined PDL and fiberoptic 1444-nm Nd-YAG laser to treat a case with hypertrophic PWS.
METHOD: After tumescent anesthesia, few holes were made by a 16-gauge needle on different sides of the lesion. The fiberoptic tip of 1444-nm Nd-YAG laser was inserted within the holes and was pushed forward while triggering. In a fan pattern and by a back and forth movement, the subcutaneous and deep dermal areas were coagulated.

The holmium laser is a recent addition to the urologist's armamentarium, being used primarily for the destruction of urinary calculi. Its use as a tool for ablation of the prostate has not been previously described. Our initial experience with 110 patients who have undergone a combination procedure using the Nd:YAG laser for standard circumferential coagulation followed by holmium laser ablation is reported. Laser targeted photo-occlusion (LTO) is a novel method being developed to treat choroidal neovascular membranes (CNV) in age-related and other macular degenerations.
