Nicolaides-Baraitser syndrome (NCBRS) is a rare congenital genetic disorder characterized by distinctive facial features similar to Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS). We report the first case of successful nasal fiberoptic intubation in a patient with NCBRS with micrognathia and limited mouth opening due to trismus. Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare disorder that causes heterotopic bone formation leading to chest wall and spinal deformities. This case describes an 11-year-old female with FOP who presented in respiratory failure necessitating two emergent fiberoptic nasotracheal intubations. The patient had severe trismus, rotary flexion of the neck, and distortion of the airway. BACKGROUND: This report presented the case of a difficult-to-remove needle foreign body. The patient had a dental procedure in which a 30-gauge needle was lost in the gingival buccal sulcus. Several attempts at removal were unsuccessful. The patient presented to the otolaryngology clinic with trismus, pain with mastication, intermittent right otalgia, and numbness of the right cheek.

In the present study, we clarified the TMJ symptoms of Yusho patients. An epidemiologic examination was carried out to identify TMJ arthrosis in patients with Yusho. The patients were collected during annual Yusho examinations in 2012. Nine of 187 patients had TMJ symptoms. The symptoms were pain, trismus, and a clicking sound of the TMJ. Peristonsillar abscess (PTA) is a common deep neck space infection in children. Children with PTA often present with sore throat, dysphagia, peritonsillar bulge, uvular deviation, trismus, and a muffled voice. This case report details the onset of masseter muscle rigidity, elevated creatine kinase levels, and rhabdomyolysis following a sevoflurane mask induction and succinylcholine administration in a 12-year-old boy. The patient had no family or personal history of neuromuscular disease or malignant hyperthermia. Hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis, and rhabdomyolysis occurred within 75 minutes of masseter muscle rigidity.
