Physical activity and weight status of children in Germany: cross-sectional results from the MoMo Wave 3 (2018-2020).

UNLABELLED: Childhood physical activity (PA) plays a critical role in preventing obesity and supporting overall health. This study investigates the prevalence of weight status categories and their association with organized and unorganized PA among 6- to 17-year-old children in Germany using MoMo Wave 3 (2018-2020). Cross-sectional data from MoMo Wave 3 (2018-2020) were analyzed to examine associations between weight status and PA. A total of 1983 participants (age: 11.6 ± 3.4 years, 52.3% male) completed a questionnaire and had anthropometric measurements taken, including height and weight. S

"Now that I took TPT, it's affecting my ART adherence, viral load, even my wellbeing in the community". Exploring acceptability and experience of Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment among adolescents living with HIV in Zimbabwe.

Tuberculosis preventive treatment (TPT) is increasingly offered to people living with HIV in high-burden settings, including adolescents and young people (AYPLHIV). Evidence demonstrates that AYPLHIVs' HIV treatment engagement is improved by the provision of tailored support. How to effectively adapt this support to accommodate multimorbidity care, such as TPT alongside ART, warrants attention to deliver sustained optimal outcomes. We conducted qualitative research to better understand AYPLHIVs' experiences when initiating TPT and their related support needs. Peer counsellors (18-24 years) who

Understanding mediated sports consumption by Irish children: a qualitative study exploring their exposure and understanding of gambling marketing, risks and harms.

BACKGROUND: Gambling marketing communications create a public health risk by increasing the normalisation of gambling in sports. In a context where broad level studies report significant underage gambling, currently no evidence exists on how these communications are received by children in the Republic of Ireland (hereafter Ireland) and Northern Ireland. To build this evidence base and provide granular detail below broad level data, this study explored the sport consumption habits and views of Irish children (aged 14-17 years) on their exposure, awareness and perceptions of the relationship be

Co-production of an e-resource to help women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse prepare for pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.

BACKGROUND: This paper reports the development of a co-produced e-resource to support those who have experienced childhood sexual abuse through pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. These are times of major transition for any woman but can present particular challenges for those who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. Re-traumatisation during the perinatal period is common and can occur in ways that may not be anticipated by those involved. Survivors often do not disclose their abuse and the childbearing journey can be lonely. METHODS: The work was conducted in collaboration with The Survivo

Targeted Echocardiographic Screening for Latent Rheumatic Heart Disease in Northern Uganda: Evaluating Familial Risk Following Identification of an Index Case.

BACKGROUND: Echocardiographic screening for detection of latent RHD has shown potential as a strategy to decrease the burden of disease. However, further research is needed to determine optimal implementation strategies. RHD results from a complex interplay between environment and host susceptibility. Family members share both and relatives of children with latent RHD may represent a high-risk group. The objective of this study was to use echocardiographic family screening to determine the relative risk of RHD among first-degree relatives of children with latent RHD compared to the risk in fir

Does the timing of parental migration matter for child growth? A life course study on left-behind children in rural China.

BACKGROUND: China's unprecedented internal migration has left 61 million rural children living apart from parents. This study investigates how being left behind is associated with children's growth, by examining children's height and weight trajectories by age, testing the accumulation and critical period life course hypotheses. METHODS: Data were drawn from five waves of the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS). Multiple cohorts of children under 6 years old from 1997-2009 were examined (N = 2,555). Growth curve models investigated whether height and weight trajectories differ for childr

Feasibility of the OdonAssist device for assisted vaginal birth in a low-resource setting: ASSIST Ethiopia study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: In sub-Saharan African countries, the population-based assisted vaginal birth (AVB) rate is approximately 1% as compared with 16% in Western Europe. Consequently, women experiencing prolonged labour often face limited access to prompt intervention, leading to maternal and perinatal complications or unnecessary caesarean sections (CS). The OdonAssist device has been developed to be safe, user-friendly and more acceptable than currently used AVB devices. We propose to conduct a study in Ethiopia to evaluate if the implementation of this innovation is feasible and may contribute to

Effects of intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) on post-stroke depression (PSD): A study protocol for a single-center randomized controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) is a specific type of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) paradigm with long-lasting effects and a short session duration. Although randomized controlled trials have suggested that iTBS is effective for treating depression, few studies have investigated the effects of iTBS in treating post-stroke depression (PSD). The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether iTBS can be used to treat PSD. We will also investigate the corresponding mechanisms of iTBS via functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). METHODS
