Marginal and internal fit and fracture resistance of lithium disilicate laminate veneers for teeth with proximal cavities: an in-vitro comparative study.

BACKGROUND: The management of proximal cavities under porcelain laminate veneers remains a clinical challenge. Conventional strategies-such as placing an intermediate composite restoration or extending the preparation-require additional steps or sacrifice healthy tooth structure. While the literature reports conflicting findings on whether composite substrates affect veneer longevity, a comprehensive biomechanical evaluation of a monolithic veneer design that directly incorporates the proximal cavity has not been reported. This in-vitro study compared the marginal fit, internal adaptation, and

Influence of preheating resin composites: a nano-CT assessment on voids and internal adaptation.

Gap percentage at the restoration-tooth interface and internal voids remain significant limitations in resin-based composite restorations, contributing to marginal leakage, secondary caries, and restoration failure. Preheating composite resins has been proposed as a strategy to enhance adaptation and reduce polymerization-induced stress. To evaluate the influence of preheating resin composites and varying light-curing durations on gap percentage at the restoration-tooth interface, internal adaptation, and void formation in Class II restorations using high-resolution Nano-CT imaging. Evaluation of the marginal integrity of a bioactive restorative material.

This in vitro study evaluated the marginal microleakage of a bioactive restorative with other restorative materials in standard Class V preparations. Sixty previously extracted, noncarious human molars were randomly assigned to 3 experimental groups (n = 20): a bioactive composite resin, a universal hybrid composite resin, and a resin-modified glass ionomer restorative. Class V cavities were prepared on the facial or lingual surface of each tooth so that coronal margins were located in enamel and apical margins in cementum (dentin). After the cavity preparations were restored with the appropri

Comparison of Marginal Accuracy of Interim Restoration Fabricated from Self-cure Composite and Autopolymerizing Acrylic Resin: An In Vitro Study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: One of the important steps toward achieving a successful fixed partial denture treatment is the fabrication of interim restorations with good marginal adaptation. Poor marginal adaptation of the interim restorations will allow ingress of fluids and microorganisms between the restorations and may lead to caries and pulpitis. The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the marginal accuracy of interim restorations made from two polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and two bis-acryl materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An in vitro method was used to replicate a clin
