Targeted literature review to understand the patient experience of essential thrombocythemia and evaluate existing clinical outcome assessment measures.

BACKGROUND: The use of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COA) instruments in blood cancers such as myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) is widely documented, however little is known about Essential Thrombocythemia (ET). A targeted literature review was conducted to identify the concepts of interest to the ET population and to develop a conceptual framework. Using this framework, identification and review of COA instruments will help determine if there are existing instruments fit for purpose for use in ET studies. METHODOLOGY: Targeted reviews in May and October 2023 synthesized the literature on E

Assessment of a novel patient reported outcome measure for visual snow syndrome: the Colorado visual snow survey 2.0.

INTRODUCTION: Visual snow syndrome (VSS) is a condition in which people experience a continuous overlay of small dots atop their entire visual field. As a newly recognized condition, there is a gap in patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) that target VSS symptom impact. METHODS: We sought to assess the Colorado Visual Snow Survey 2.0 (CVSS) as a possible PROM for VSS using a convenience sample of undergraduate students and people with VSS recruited through the Visual Snow Initiative (N = 144). RESULTS: We found the CVSS (1) strongly differentiated people with VSS from healthy controls, (

Properties of Measurements of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Physical Activity Assessment in Chronic Kidney Disease: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The assessment of physical activity (PA) using Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) is routine due to its easy applicability and low cost. In the context of CKD, there are several studies that evaluate PA through PROM, but there is heterogeneity in the choice of tool. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify, evaluate and synthesize the psychometric properties of PROMs used in the assessment of PA in CKD. METHODS: A systematic review was carried out according to the PRISMA guidelines in PubMed, SciELO, Medline, Lilacs and EMBASE databases. The assess

An Assessment of Current Clinician- and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures for Acne Scarring and Dyspigmentation: A Scoping Review.

Acne-associated scarring and dyspigmentation (ie, erythema, hyperpigmentation) are common sequelae with significant psychosocial impact, but little is known about what measures are most often used to assess these outcomes. This scoping review evaluates the use of current patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and clinician-reported outcome measures (ClinROMs) for acne scars and dyspigmentation. For scars, 7 PROMs and 18 ClinROMs were used, with most being unvalidated. Similarly, for dyspigmentation, 4 PROMs and 8 ClinROMs were identified, but no validated PROMs were identified. These result

Electronic patient-reported outcome assessment at inpatient admission: a descriptive analysis of real-world data for 1423 radiotherapy patients.

BACKGROUND: Patient-reported outcomes (PRO) capture patients' self-reported and treatment-related experiences, including functional impairment, symptoms, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Although PRO have shown benefits in many studies and are recommended by guidelines, systematic PRO assessment is still rarely integrated into routine cancer care. This paper describes results of the long-term implementation of electronic PRO assessment (ePRO) in the routine workflow of a radiation oncology inpatient clinic by analyzing patients' HRQOL at admission. METHODS: Admission ePRO included
