Long-term patency and ability for revascularization remain challenges for small-caliber blood vessel grafts to treat cardiovascular diseases clinically. Here, a gelatin/heparin coated bio-inspired polyurethane composite fibers-based artificial blood vessel with continuous release of NO and biopeptides to regulate vascular tissue repair and maintain long-term patency is fabricated. A biodegradable polyurethane elastomer that can catalyze S-nitrosothiols in the blood to release NO is synthesized (NPU). Then, the NPU core-shell structured nanofiber grafts with requisite mechanical properties and

BACKGROUND: Preliminary results in small single-center studies after stenting with the GORE TIGRIS Vascular Stent (W. L. Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, Ariz) show promising short-term primary patency rates, but larger, multicenter studies are needed. This study therefore investigated the performance of the GORE TIGRIS Vascular Stent at three different centers in France in patients with symptomatic peripheral artery disease.
METHODS: This retrospective, single-arm, multicenter cohort study included 215 patients with peripheral artery disease (Rutherford-Becker category 2-6) who were treated wit

BACKGROUND: Restenosis remains a significant problem in endovascular therapy for hemodialysis vascular access. Drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty decreases restenosis in peripheral and coronary artery diseases. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the patency outcomes following DCB angioplasty, as compared to conventional balloon (CB) angioplasty for the stenosis of hemodialysis vascular access.
METHODS: A comprehensive search in the MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL databases was conducted in order to identify eligible randomized controlled trials evaluating DCB ang

BACKGROUND: Complications of vascular surgery and vascular procedures, including iatrogenic injuries, planned oncological tumor resections, and steal syndrome after arteriovenous access placement, are increasingly common in modern medical care. Harvesting of autologous vein to address these consequences and complications produces injury to the patient, and suitable vein may not be accessible in the urgent/emergent setting.
METHODS: The objective is to evaluate the performance of the acellular tissue engineered vessel (ATEV) in the repair of sequelae and complications of vascular procedures. C

INTRODUCTION: Vascular access dysfunction is a major cause of morbidity in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on hemodialysis (HD). Thus, identifying risk factors for vascular access failure is important. Patients on HD are routinely exposed to high blood pressure variability (BPV) during HD. However, the impact of intradialytic BPV on vascular access outcomes is unknown. Therefore, we investigated the association of intradialytic BPV with vascular access outcomes in patients on HD.
METHODS: One hundred and thirty patients with ESRD who created vascular access for HD were evaluated.

BACKGROUND: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), dacron, and, more recently, collagen prostheses are finding increasing use for femoropopliteal reconstruction when a suitable vein is not available. The main factors to be considered when choosing a prosthesis are patency, susceptibility to infection and formation of aneurysms.
METHODS: Sheep collagen prostheses were implanted on 274 occasions in the femoropopliteal or crural regions.
RESULTS: The patency rate for supragenual bypass after 3 years was 61.9% with good vascular periphery and 44% with poor vascular periphery. If the prosthesis extended

BACKGROUND: The invasion of truncal arteries and veins by malignant neoplasms is rare and the surgical treatment remains a challenge. Several techniques can be used to re-establish blood flow in a resected vessel and choice of the ideal vascular substitute frequently arises a debate. Comparative studies between prosthetic and autologous grafts disclose conflicting patency results. The aim of this study is to compare patency outcomes of vascular reconstructions performed using autologous or prosthetic replacement grafts in surgical oncology, in light of a standardized antithrombotic protocol us

BACKGROUND: Vascular graft/endograft infection is a rare but life-threatening complication of cardiovascular surgery and remains a surgical challenge. Several different graft materials are available for the treatment of vascular graft/endograft infection, each having its own advantages and disadvantages. Biosynthetic vascular grafts have shown low reinfection rates and could be a potential second best after autologous veins in the treatment of vascular graft/endograft infection. Therefore, the aim of our study was to evaluate the efficacy and morbidity of Omniflow® II for the treatment of vasc

INTRODUCTION:: The prevalence and incidence of patients in need of hemodialysis worldwide are increasing. The population in need of hemodialysis is becoming older and vascular comorbidities are more frequent than decades ago. Consequently, the prevalence of patients with exhausted possibilities of upper limb vascular accesses increases. In contrast to other lower limb vascular accesses, a fistula by transposing the femoral vein to the superficial femoral artery promises better patency rates in preliminary series.
METHODS:: The first seven cases performed between October 2015 and March 2017 at
