INTRODUCTION: Verruciform xanthoma is a rare, benign lesion characterized by hyperkeratosis and aggregates of foam cell macrophages. Here, we describe a case of verruciform xanthoma on the scrotum, in which the immunohistochemical localization of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, a chemokine of the C-C or beta family that has been shown to induce the recruitment of monocytes for injured tissue, was analyzed to determine which cells release chemoattractants for macrophages.

Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is the most common form of cutaneous lupus erythematosus and may lead to chronic scarring. In this study, a novel hybrid electrode of phosphidated tungsten oxide (WO₃-P) and polyaniline (PANI) is synthesized on a nickel foam substrate (PANI@WO3-P/NF). Patients with inflammatory arthritic disease of the feet invariably require conservative office management. The simplest method of obtaining relief has been to use commercially available extra-depth shoes combined with custommade, removable, closed-celled polyethylene foam arch supports. These supports are soft, light, and can be accurately adjusted to each patient's pathology. The technique and modifications used for relieving the commonest problems, such as anterior metatarsalgia and plantar heel pain, are discussed.
