This study compares the drug loading capacity of Cellactose and two excipients of similar composition and similar particle size, prepared by dry granulation and extrusion-spheronization respectively. The drugs evaluated were acetaminophen and furosemide. Acetaminophen did not significantly affect the flow properties of any of the excipients, whereas furosemide markedly worsened flow properties, eliminating the differences initially existing among the three excipients. The aim of this study has been to use a global index to measure the air quality in the city, apart from individual assessment of the values of the concentrations of the different pollutants. We calculated the ORAQI with the data obtained at four air-pollution monitoring stations located in the city of Salamanca over the period between 1993 and 2001. The present study compares two methods of preparation of microparticles of 3,4-diaminopyridine (3,4-DAP) for the treatment for multiple scle … s phase. This formulation have led to a higher incorporation of the drug (88.25 micrograms/mg). The particle size was 91.8+/-44.3 microm. The observation, by SEM, shows many crystals on the surface and inside the microparticles. A slow-release of the drug in a phosphate buffer pH 7.4 was observed (50% in 60 min and about 70% in 4 h).

Sediment of Ostrich Bay, an arm of Dyes Inlet on Puget Sound, was historically contaminated with ordnance compounds from an onshore US Navy facility. An initial recommendation for a sediment cover to mitigate benthic risks was followed by studies of sediment transport and deposition to determine whether contaminated sediment from Dyes Inlet or other offsite sources in Puget Sound may contribute to Ostrich Bay impacts. A novel technique for the preparation of Eudragit RL microcapsules is described. The technique is based on the principle of solvent evaporation. Diclofenac sodium is used as a model drug for encapsulation. A solution of drug and Eudragit RL dissolved in acetone-isopropyl alcohol (1:1) is sprayed in liquid paraffin. The microcapsules obtained were uniform and free flowing particles. The release rate was more sustained by increasing the polymer concentration. The experimental procedure promises a rapid and convenient method for the preparation of Eudragit RL-microcapsules.

Project MOHAVE was a major air quality and visibility research program conducted from 1990 to 1999 to investigate the causes of visibility impairment in the Grand Canyon National Park region.
