Robust Multimodal Cough Detection With Optimized Out-of-Distribution Detection for Wearables.

Longitudinal and continuous monitoring of cough is crucial for early and accurate diagnosis of respiratory diseases. Recent developments in wearables provides at-home remote symptom monitoring with respect to more accurate and less frequent assessment in the clinics, but face practical challenges such as speech privacy, poor audio quality and background noise in uncontrolled real-world settings. This study addresses these challenges by developing and optimizing a multimodal cough detection system, enhanced with an Out-of-Distribution (OOD) detection algorithm. The cough sensing modalities incl

RexDrug: Reliable Multi-Drug Combination Extraction Through Reasoning-Enhanced LLMs.

Automated Drug Combination Extraction (DCE) from large-scale biomedical literature is crucial for advancing precision medicine and pharmacological research. However, existing relation extraction methods primarily focus on binary interactions and struggle to model variable-length n-ary drug combinations, where complex compatibility logic and distributed evidence need to be considered. To address these limitations, we propose RexDrug, an end-to-end reasoning-enhanced relation extraction framework for n-ary drug combination extraction based on large language models. RexDrug adopts a two-stage tra

Uro-PPLD: Physiology and Pathology-Aware Latent Diffusion for Cystoscopic Image Generation and Augmentation.

Public cystoscopic benchmarks are limited by scarce annotations, class imbalance, and weak structural supervision. Generic augmentation often fails to preserve anatomy, color fidelity, and pathology-related variation simultaneously. To address these challenges, Uro-PPLD is proposed-a latent diffusion framework that integrates chroma-luminance decoupled attention, anatomy-guided ControlNet, continuous filling-state conditioning, and a residual pathology adapter into one denoising backbone. Topology-aware and color-consistency constraints further enforce structural plausibility and appearance fi

Deciphering lncRNA-disease associations based on multi-representation fusion and boosting with Gaussian process.

LncRNA-disease association (LDA) identification can provide valuable insights for understanding disease pathogenesis. Existing most deep learning-based LDA prediction models remain limitations in effectively fusing various features of lncRNAs and diseases and accurately classifying unknown lncRNA-disease pairs (LDPs). Here, we introduce a deep learning-based LDA prediction frame work named LDA-RMGPB based on multi-representation fusion and boosting with Gaussian process. First, a randomized singular value decomposition model is presented to extract LDP linear features. Subsequently, a masked g

Developing Dynamic Prediction Methods for Survival Time Lost in Chronic Kidney Disease Progression Under Competing Risks.

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) may progress to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or die from other causes during long-term follow-up, making it essential to properly account for competing risks in prognostic modeling. However, most existing CKD prediction models rely on hazard-based measures, which primarily reflect relative effects, lack clinical interpretability, and cannot directly quantify survival time lost due to disease progression or death. To address this limitation, we adopted the restricted mean time lost (RMTL), an absolute and intuitive measure of survival time loss, and

CFSCNet: A Coarse-Fine Stream Conformer Neural Network for Swallow Segmentation.

This study develops an efficient and accurate method for segmenting complex swallowing events in patients with dysphagia. We propose CFSCNet, a novel model that integrates multimodal signals-audio, nasal airflow, and triaxial accelerometry-to enhance swallowing event segmentation. The model employs a dual-stream architecture to capture swallowing information across varying durations and utilizes an exponential moving average-based cost-sensitive weighting method to address data imbalance. To further improve the stability of predictions for clinical applications, a Swallowing State Machine-Driv

CMIS: A Class-Aware Multi-Structure Instance Segmentation Model for Fetal Brain Ultrasound Images With Fuzzy Region-Based Constraints.

Fetal anatomical structure segmentation in ultrasound images is essential for biometric measurement and disease diagnosis. However, current methods focus on a specific plane or a few structures, whereas obstetricians diagnose by considering multiple structures from different planes. In addition, existing methods struggle with segmenting fuzzy regions, which leads to performance degradation. We propose a real-time segmentation method called Class-aware Multi-structure Instance Segmentation (CMIS), designed to segment 19 key structures in 3 fetal brain planes to support brain-disease diagnosis.

MSMPP: Molecular Property Prediction by Integrating Multi-scale Multi-view information with pretrained 3D molecular large model representation.

Molecular property prediction is a cornerstone for accelerating drug discovery, providing a computational way to alleviate the low success rate, high cost, and long development cycle of conventional pharmaceutical research and development. However, existing computational methods have obvious limitations: most current deep learning approaches rely on a single molecular view, failing to fully capture the multi-dimensional features of molecular structures; they mainly focus on intra-molecular features while ignoring inter molecular information and cross-task correlations; and limited labeled data

Beyond classical models: LLM-driven survival analysis for breast cancer prognosis using European cancer registry data.

BACKGROUND: Survival analysis is a fundamental tool in clinical prognosis, yet traditional statistical models often struggle to capture complex, high-dimensional relationships in modern healthcare data. Recent advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) offer new opportunities for flexible and context-aware modeling. At the same time, access to real-world clinical data remains restricted due to privacy constraints, motivating the use of synthetic datasets as a privacy-preserving alternative for model development and evaluation. METHODS: We propose a survival analysis framework based on fine-tune

Unsupervised machine learning for free water-eliminated diffusion tensor imaging of the fetal brain.

Accurate characterization of the fetal brain tissue microstructure with diffusion MRI remains challenging due to the presence of significant free water contribution and low data quality inherent in fetal imaging. To address these challenges, in this work we have developed a machine learning method for Free Water Eliminated Diffusion Tensor Imaging (FWE-DTI) that explicitly distinguishes between free and tissue-bound water diffusion. We leverage research-quality neonatal and fetal diffusion MRI data in a stage-wise learning approach that uses supervised and unsupervised training. The effectiven

CC-GAN: Coronary Artery 3D Reconstruction From Two X-Ray Views With Mamba-Based Topology-Aware Generator and Dual-Domain Discriminator.

Two non-simultaneously acquired X-ray angiographic views from a single X-ray system provide a practical and low-dose input crucial for 3D coronary artery reconstruction. However, this setting poses significant challenges due to severe geometric ambiguity and motion inconsistency. Existing methods commonly rely on backprojection to lift two views into an initial volumetric estimate; however, the resulting backprojection volume exhibits overlooked challenges, including ambiguous vessel topology, severe noise and artifacts, and frequency-domain characteristics that deviate from true coronary anat

Leveraging Dual-Teacher Collaboration and Discriminative Language Guidance for Robust Blood Cell Detection.

Automated blood cell detection (BCD) is essential for modern hematology, yet its robustness is challenged by the limitations of fully supervised models. The impracticality of exhaustively annotating the vast number of cells in blood smears leads to extremely sparse annotations and, consequently, high rates of missed detections. Moreover, the clinical utility of current models is severely impeded by poor generalization, a result of domain shifts across clinical sources and a restrictive closed-set assumption. To overcome these issues, we first propose a dual-teacher collaboration framework that

Lactate trajectories and outcomes in critically ill patients with septic shock: a retrospective analysis of the MIMIC-IV database.

BACKGROUND: Static measurements of lactate concentrations are insufficient to fully capture the metabolic dynamics that occur during disease progression. We aimed to investigate the lactate trajectories and their association with 7-day and 28-day all-cause mortality in critically ill patients with septic shock. METHODS: Critically ill patients with septic shock were obtained from the MIMIC-IV database (v3.1). Latent growth mixture models (LGMM) and smoothed curve fitting were used to investigate lactate trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression models were employed to examine the associati
