Birthing in a hospital with on-site surgical facilities (co-located care) is considered preferable for neonates with surgical conditions. However, it may not always be feasible. BACKGROUND: During the Syrian civil war, patients were initially treated on-site in Syria and later transferred to medical centers in Israel. Relevant details concerning the exact nature of injury and medical/surgical care received in Syria were unavailable to clinicians in Israel. Many of these patients required abdominal re-exploration for obvious or suspected problems related to their injury. INTRODUCTION: The prevalence of deranged liver function tests (LFT) in patients on long-term home parenteral nutrition (HPN) is poorly documented. The aim of our study was to document the prevalence of this complication and possible associated factors.

This paper reviews our five years' clinical experience (1987 to 1991) of 22 patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
