In Vitro Evaluation of the Effect of Pediatric Drugs on the Color Stability of Bioflx Crowns Using Spectrophotometer.

AIMS: The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the effect of different pediatric drugs on color stability of Bioflx crowns. BACKGROUND: Bioflx crowns have emerged as a novel restorative option with the unique property of self-adaptability along with esthetics. Although Bioflx crowns have demonstrated promising clinical performance, their resistance to discoloration remains underexplored. Pediatric liquid medications, often administered to children, are known to cause staining in dental materials. Hence, this study aims to evaluate and compare the effects of different pediatric…

Prefabricated zirconia crowns versus alternative full-coverage restorations for primary anterior teeth: a systematic review of clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND: Prefabricated zirconia crowns have gained popularity as an alternative to traditional options such as composite strip crowns and pre-veneered stainless steel crowns. However, their comparative clinical effectiveness remains uncertain. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of prefabricated zirconia crowns (ZCs) for restoring primary anterior teeth compared to alternative full-coverage restorations. METHODS: This systematic review was conducted in alignment with PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive search of five databases, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Sc…

Marginal bone level (MBL), clinical parameters (probing depth-PD, bleeding on probing-BoP, plaque control record-PCR), technical complications (USPHS criteria) and patient satisfaction were assessed at crown delivery (baseline), 1 year (FU-1) and at 7.5 years (FU-7.5) of follow-up. RESULTS: Eight…

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 142 patients with 179 implants in the posterior region were evaluated. The implants were divided into three groups according to intra-coronal cantilever width (Group 1, ≤ 1 mm; Group 2, 1 mm intra-coronal cantilever width 2 mm; Group 3, ≥ 2 mm). Marginal bone loss, complications and clinical parameters were used to evaluate …

Do Hall Technique Crowns Affect Intra-arch Dimensions? A Split-mouth Quasi-experimental Non-randomized Feasibility Pilot Study.

AIM AND BACKGROUND: The Hall technique preformed metal crowns (HT-PMCs) are allegedly oversized, temporarily altering inter-arch relationships. Intra-arch dimensions and leeway space (LWS) HT effects are unknown. AIM: To study single HT-PMC intra-arch effects and treated tooth dimensional changes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Split-mouth, quasi-experimental, non-randomized feasibility pilot study. Intraoral scans (iTero II®) were taken preorthodontic separator placement (scan1), immediately post single HT-PMCs (scan2) in 13 children, and 1 month later (scan3) in eight children. Deep learning-designed implant-supported posterior crowns: Assessing time efficiency, tooth morphology, emergence profile, occlusion, and proximal contacts.

OBJECTIVES: To compare implant supported crowns (ISCs) designed using deep learning (DL) software with those designed by a technician using conventional computer-aided design software. METHODS: Twenty resin-based partially edentulous casts (maxillary and mandibular) used for fabricating ISCs were evaluated retrospectively. ISCs were designed using a DL-based method with no modification of the as-generated outcome (DB), a DL-based method with further optimization by a dental technician (DM), and a conventional computer-aided design method by a technician (NC). Computation of the fracture probability and lifetime of all ceramic anterior crowns under cyclic loading - An FEA study.

OBJECTIVES: To predict the lifetime and fracture probability of anterior crowns made of a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (IPS e.max CAD, LD, Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein) and a zirconia-containing lithium silicate glass-ceramic (Celtra Duo, ZLS, Dentsply Sirona, USA) under cycling loading. METHODS: Three-point bending tests were conducted to measure the viscoelastic parameters. These parameters are used to compute the residual stresses of the anterior crown after crystallization. In the next analysis, the cyclic loading on the anterior crown was calculated. Based on this combined stress …

Fracture strength of implant-supported hybrid abutment crowns in premolar region fabricated using different restorative CAD/CAM materials.

The present study investigated the fracture strength of hybrid abutment crowns (HACs) in the premolar region that were fabricated with different restorative computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials. The abutment-implant structures were randomly assigned into four groups (n=11 per group): bi-layered zirconia restorations (BL), translucent zirconia (4Y-PSZ) restorations (TZ), lithium disilicate ceramic restorations (LD), and dispersed nanoparticle-filled composite resin restorations (CM). All restorations were adhesively bonded to the titanium abutments. After the r…

Comparison of retentive forces between telescopic crowns made of poly(ether ether ketone) and type 4 gold alloy.

In this study, retentive forces were compared between telescopic crowns (TSC) made with poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) using computer-aided design and manufacturing and type 4 gold alloy using the conventional method. The retentive forces of TSCs were evaluated by performing a pull-out test with primary and secondary crowns. Initial retentive force was approximately 12 N for both PEEK and gold alloy TSCs. The retentive force of PEEK TSC was approximately 6.5 N after 10,000 cycles of insertion and removal. The reduction rate in retentive force was smaller for gold alloy TSC. PEEK TSC displayed…

Effect of implant connection and restoration design (screwed vs. cemented) in reliability and failure modes of anterior crowns.

The mechanical performance of cemented or screw-retained implant-supported crowns with an internal or external configuration is yet to be understood. This in vitro study evaluated the effect of screw-retained and cement-retained prostheses on internal and external implant-abutment connections. Thereby, the reliability and failure modes of crowns were investigated. Eighty-four implants (Emfils; Colosso Evolution system) were divided into four groups (n=21 each): screw-retained and internal connection (Si), screw-retained and external connection (Se), cement-retained and internal connection (Ci)…

The role of ring geometry and rigidity in the glassy dynamics of cyclic dimethylsila crowns under elevated pressure.

The interplay between molecular topology, rigidity, and cooperative relaxation remains central to understanding glassy dynamics in complex liquids. Here, broadband dielectric spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry were employed to investigate the relaxation behavior of cyclic dimethylsila crown ethers (DMS11C4, DMS14C5, and DMS17C6) under ambient and high-pressure conditions. The systems exhibit distinct α and β-relaxations, where the secondary (β) process displays typical Johari-Goldstein features at ambient pressure and follows nearly the same trend upon compression, showing only
