OBJECTIVE: To report clinical characteristics, treatment, and outcome of primary autoimmune hypophysitis (PAH), and to explore predictors of response to glucocorticoid (GC) therapy.
METHODS: Seventy-seven patients diagnosed with PAH in our institute from December 2009 to October 2022 were included. Clinical symptoms, endocrine, and radiological features and treatment were reviewed. Endocrine and radiological outcome was evaluated, and logistic regression was conducted to explore the predictor of responsiveness to GC therapy.

Neuro-meningeal tuberculosis is a severe form of tuberculosis affecting the central nervous system. Tuberculous hypophysitis is a granulomatous inflammation of the pituitary gland, a rare but potentially severe pathology in the context of disseminated tuberculosis. In children, this condition presents significant diagnostic challenges. This article reviews the commonly used imaging modalities, typical radiological signs, and their role in the diagnosis and management of pediatric neuro-meningeal tuberculosis and its complications.

UNLABELLED: The superior hypophyseal arteries (SHAs) are well known in anatomical and surgical literature, with a well-established role in supply of the anterior hypophysis and superjacent optic apparatus. However, due to small size and overlap with other vessels, in vivo imaging by any modality has been essentially non-existent. Advances in high resolution cone beam CT angiography (CBCTA) now enables this deficiency to be addressed. This paper presents, to the best of our knowledge, the first comprehensive in vivo imaging evaluation of the SHAs.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a systemic disease mainly affecting children and young adults. It can manifest as single system disorder or multi-system involvement. When the central nervous system is involved, the hypothalamic-pituitary axis is the most common location affected. Herein we report a rare case of Langerhans cell histiocytosis in monozygotic twins both with central diabetes and hypophyseal masses. This is the first report about LCH in monozygotic twins with hypophyseal lesions.

OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to describe the 14-year course of a patient with a protracted and aggressive variant of lymphocytic hypophysitis.
METHODS: This is a case report.
RESULTS: Despite several trials of pulse steroids, this young female patient demonstrated persistent inflammation of the pituitary gland with eventual extension into the mammillary bodies with clinical cognitive decline. To our knowledge, there is no other reported case of lymphocytic hypophysitis with autoimmune inflammation extending beyond the infundibulum.

Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) stimulation tests were performed in 27 women with autoimmune thyroiditis and concomitant DSM-III-R mood disorders. Increased thyrotropin (TTH) response to TRH stimulation (delta TTH > or = 25 microU/ml) was present only in 4 (14.8%) and blunted (delta TTH < 7 microU/ml) in 12 (44.4%) patients. The problem of hyperdiagnosis of hypothyroidism due to depression and methods of treatment of patients with autoimmune thyroiditis and concomitant affective disorders are discussed.
