Spectroscopy, Morphology, and Electrochemistry of Electrospun Polyamic Acid Nanofibers.

Polyamic acid (PAA) nanofibers produced by using the electrospinning method were fully characterized in terms of morphology and spectroscopy. A PAA nanofiber-modified screen-printed carbon electrode was applied to the detection of selected sulfonamides by following an electroanalytical protocol. The polyamic acid (PAA) nanofibers were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to study the integrity of polyamic acid functional groups as nanofibers by comparing them to chemically synthesized polyamic acid. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to confirm the morp

Advanced Estimation of Compressive Strength and Fracture Behavior in Ceramic Honeycombs by Polarimetry Measurements of Similar Epoxy Resin Honeycombs.

Finding a non-destructive characterization method for cellular ceramics' compressive strength and fracture behavior has been a challenge for … nitial fracture points of the ceramic honeycombs. These honeycombs were made by a combination of 3D printing and transfer molding from alumina. The photoelastic stress distribution was much more homogeneous for angles of a smaller magnitude, which led to highly increased compressive strengths of up to 446 ± 156 MPa at 0°. By adapting the geometric structur …

[POTENTIAL FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS UTILIZATION IN PANCREATECTOMY].

Preoperative simulation and intraoperative navigation using three-dimensional (3D) analysis has been established and is indispensable in liver surgery. However, 3D analysis has not been developed in pancreatic surgery. Recently, we have been able to perform 3D analysis of the pancreas and make 3D models of it with surrounding vascular structures and tumors using a 3D printer. Preoperative computed tomography (CT) images were reconstructed in a 3D configuration, including the pancreatic parenchyma, tumors, pancreatic duct, bile duct, portal venous system, and hepatic and superior mesenteric art

Comparative evaluation of additively manufactured PLA models as cost-effective, non-inferior alternatives to composite bones for pull-out testing.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to perform biomechanical pull-out comparisons between composite bone blocks and additively manufactured bone models using locked plate and screw systems. The hypothesis posited that the mean pull-out force of the 3D-printed models would demonstrate non-inferior pull-out strength compared to standard composite bones within a clinically acceptable 15% margin. A standardized pull-out mechanism was developed to evaluate its biomechanical reliability and its potential as a customizable alternative. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study compared three groups: s

Fabrication of a 3D bioprinting model for posterior capsule opacification using GelMA and PLMA hydrogel-coated resin.

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) remains the predominant complication following cataract surgery, significantly impairing visual function restoration. In this study, we developed a PCO model that closely mimics the anatomical structure of the crystalline lens capsule post-surgery. The model incorporated a threaded structure for accurate positioning and observation, allowing for opening and closing. Utilizing 3D printing technology, a stable external support system was created using resin material consisting of a rigid, hollow base and cover. To replicate the lens capsule structure, a thin…

Application of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing and mixed reality technologies in a novel mandibular reconstruction plate system.

Mandibular reconstruction following oral and maxillofacial tumor resection is essential for restoring occlusion and facial appearance. Conventional methods require intraoperative bending of plates, increasing surgical time and risking metal fatigue and plate fracture. Patient-specific implants (PSIs), created via preoperative computed tomography (CT) data and three-dimensional (3D) metal printing, have improved surgical accuracy and reduced operation times. In Japan, Cosmofix® is the only PSI system available, but it lacks osteotomy guides, complicating precise bone cuts and screw insertion an…
