This paper explores two interpersonal sensitivities (to rejection and to social put-down) in a group of 54 depressed men and 50 depressed women. Measures of anhedonia, anxiety, anger, social comparison, and submissive behaviour were also obtained. Initial dysphoric response (IDR) is characterized by a negative affective reaction within 48 h after a neuroleptic test dose. Currently, there are three scales for measuring the IDR (Neuroleptic Dysphoria Scale, Dysphoric Response Index, Drug Attitude Inventory). The debate continues about the definition, measurement, and underlying aetiology of IDR. Nevertheless, with a prevalence of 30%, the response is a clinically relevant phenomenon. Empirical data give some evidence of an association between IDR and short-term outcome. No correlation of IDR with pretreatment variables has been found yet

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of a group structured intervention on the mental and physical discomfort and immune function of 20 family caregivers. OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study was to determine the frequency of dissociative disorders in Dutch psychiatric inpatients.
METHOD: During a period of 12 months, 122 consecutively admitted adult psychiatric patients were screened with the Dissociative Experiences Scale. Patients scoring 25 and higher and a random selection of patients scoring lower than 25 were blindly interviewed with the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Dissociative Disorders, Revised. This study explores the usefulness of relaxation and gradual medication withdrawal in weaning insomniacs from sleep (hypnotic) medication. We recruited 40 volunteers from the community who had insomnia, half of whom were chronic users of hypnotics while the other half were nonmedicated. Half of all participants (10 medicated and 10 nonmedicated) received progressive relaxation. All medicated participants received a standard gradual drug withdrawal program.
