BACKGROUND/AIM: To evaluate the association between osteoradionecrosis (ORN) of the mandible and stenosis of the external carotid artery after radiation therapy (RT) for head and neck cancer.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The computed tomography images of 42 patients (36 men, six women; median age, 64.5 years) treated with RT for head and neck cancer between January 2011 and December 2015 were reviewed. BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE: Gamma Knife radiosurgery is an established technique for non-urgent treatment of various intracranial pathologies. Intra-procedural dislodgement of the stereotactic frame is an uncommon occurrence that could lead to abortion of ongoing treatment and necessitate more invasive treatment strategies.

BACKGROUND: The relationship between hospital volume and patient outcomes remains controversial for rectal cancer.
METHODS: This is a population-based database study. Patients treated with surgery for a stage I to III rectal adenocarcinoma from 2003 to 2009 were identified. BACKGROUND: The primary treatment for head and neck adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is surgery. Infrequently, however, ACC's propensity for perineural and base of skull invasion can preclude definitive surgical management. We present our experience with proton radiation therapy (RT) and concurrent platinum-based chemotherapy.
