UNLABELLED: Lisfranc dislocations and fracture dislocations are the most common severe injuries of the foot.
AIM: To assess the functional outcome of patients with Lisfranc dislocations of the midfoot by applying the latest methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Despite numerous behavioral interventions designed for women, rates of HIV and STIs are increasing. Interventions are needed that reach a large number of at-risk individuals. Among persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) experiencing homelessness or imminent risk of homelessness, a history of incarceration may serve as a marker for ongoing risk behavior or health disparities. We examined factors associated with a history of incarceration among HIV-positive clients of housing agencies in Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles (N = 581). Limited data are available on clinical outcomes of meningitis due to cefotaxime-nonsusceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae. We analyzed data from 109 cases of pneumococcal meningitis in Atlanta, Baltimore, and San Antonio, which were identified through population-based active surveillance from November 1994 to April 1996. Pneumococcal isolates from 9% of the cases were resistant to cefotaxime, and isolates from 11% had intermediate susceptibility. Physical and sexual abuse are increasingly recognized as common harmful experiences for women. We surveyed 828 women veterans seeking care at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center to determine the prevalence of physical and sexual abuse experiences, both during and outside of military service. Data were collected through an anonymous, mailed questionnaire, with a response rate of 52%. Sixty-eight percent of respondents reported at least one form of abuse, and 27% reported all three. The efficacy of single dose enoxacin, 400 mg was compared to ceftriaxone, 250 mg IM for therapy of uncomplicated gonorrhea in 152 evaluable patients attending sexually transmitted disease clinics in Baltimore, Indianapolis and Seattle. The purpose of this study was to characterize the effects of medications and systemic diseases on major salivary gland flow rates. Unstimulated and 2% citrate-stimulated parotid and submandibular salivas were collected from 293 subjects of the oral physiology component of the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging. The risk of major and minor congenital malformations was compared in the offspring of diabetic (n = 2,639) and nondiabetic (n = 2,144) women who delivered at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, between January 1, 1946 and December 31, 1970.
