336 patients have been operated for protruding ears. 140 of them have a long term postoperative follow-up. The anterior partial chondrotomies are opposed to the other surgical procedures and give the opportunity for a comparative and retrospective study. Surgical indications and procedures, use of antibiotics, postoperative follow-up, and complications are studied. 95% of results are good or very good whatever the surgical procedure. The authors remain the posterior and anterior access for partial chondrotomy.

We have realized a morphometric and statistic study about "synaptic ribbons" in the hair cells of the Corti organ. These structures are pinealocyte features with remarkable and demonstrated circadian circle and also the main parameter to measure the pineal function. Therefore we tried to clarify if the hair cells are or not resembling to other cellular types with the functional circadian circles, as well as if they present it or not in their basic function , as they are also included in the "endocrine diffuse system" and "the paraneuron" concepts.

The expression of nerve growth factor receptors (NGFRs) was studied in the developing inner ear with in situ hybridization in chick embryos and with immunocytochemistry in rat embryos to determine sites of possible functions of NGF or NGF-like molecules in inner ear development. Lactating dairy cows in four lots were observed for sexual behavior for 6 mo. One freemartin heifer in each lot was implanted with testosterone propionate and estradiol benzoate to aid in detection of estrus. The presence of middle ear disease was analyzed in 49 patients with soft palate cleft, and more particularly the influence of surgical repair and early therapy. We report a mother and son who have a microcephaly with a characteristic dysmorphic face. Prominent manifestations include facial asymmetry, prominent glabella, deafness, low-set, cup-shaped ears, thick, protruding lower lip, micrognathia, and mental retardation. We conclude that these patients have a previously undescribed type of genetic microcephaly. The mother has become normocephalic and we would not have been able to diagnose her condition without her childhood photographs. Such photographs are essential in the recognition of familial syndromes.
