Functional magnetic resonance imaging in neuropathic pain: a bibliometric analysis incorporating machine learning.

BACKGROUND: Neuropathic pain (NP) affects 6.9%-10% of the global population. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has become central to NP investigation, yet few studies have systematically mapped this literature. We used bibliometric and machine-learning methods to chart the fMRI-NP research landscape. METHODS: We retrieved 1,866 fMRI-NP articles (2005-2025) from Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus. Following PRISMA guidelines, we analyzed publication trends, citation metrics, and collaborative networks with CiteSpace and VOSviewer, complemented by exploratory topic modeling based on

Adverse Remodeling and Fibrosis Predict Outcomes in Excessive Trabeculation of the Left Ventricle: A Multiparametric CMR Risk Score.

BACKGROUND: Excessive trabeculation of the left ventricle (ETLV) is a heterogeneous and controversial phenotype that overlaps with both physiological remodeling and cardiomyopathy. OBJECTIVES: This study sought to develop and validate a cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-based model to predict major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and to assess the incremental prognostic value of trabeculation metrics. METHODS: In this international retrospective study, 589 patients with ETLV across 17 centers underwent core-laboratory CMR analysis. The composite MACE endpoint included heart failure, vent

Spatiotemporal Pathway Control for Targeted Drug Delivery: Unified Waveform Modulation in Molecular Communication.

Precise control of drug delivery requires coordination across multiple stages, including release timing, propagation dynamics, and targeting efficiency. To address this, a unified waveform modulation framework inspired by molecular communication (MC), under the broader concept of nanoparticle beamforming (NPB), is proposed to enable full-chain control over nanoparticle (NP) behavior from release through propagation to reception. Within this framework, pathway optimization is considered a key component of channel-level pathway control and is implemented via magnetic-field-assisted navigation. T

GENESIS-SHIELD: an interpretable ensemble for anomaly detection in CRISPR genomic-workflow security.

INTRODUCTION: The rapid advancement of CRISPR-based gene editing has introduced digital-workflow security and integrity challenges: unauthorized modifications, temporal inconsistencies, and duplicated provenance records can compromise the auditability of editing logs. These are distinct from the biological risks of editing itself; our focus is the security of the digital record. Existing single-component detectors capture only one facet of these threats. METHODS: We present GENESIS-SHIELD, a multi-component ensemble whose novelty lies in the integration of established techniques for CRISPR-wo

Temporal dynamics of heart rate variability reveal stressor-specific autonomic patterns: a multi-stressor study.

INTRODUCTION: Laboratory stress paradigms provide controlled conditions to study autonomic stress responses and their relevance to health and disease. The autonomic nervous system adapts dynamically during stress, yet traditional heart rate variability (HRV) averages overlook rapid allodynamic adjustments. Few studies have characterized within-task HRV dynamics across multiple stressors or considered individual stress-related traits. This study examined fine-grained HRV responses to mental, noise, and pain stressors and assessed how perceived chronic stress and noise sensitivity contribute to

Cross-population validation of the TyG-ABSI index as a novel predictor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: an integrated analysis using logistic regression and explainable machine learning.

BACKGROUND: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is increasingly recognized as a systemic inflammatory condition closely linked to metabolic dysfunction. While traditional obesity metrics often fail to capture visceral adiposity and insulin resistance simultaneously, the Triglyceride-glucose body shape index (TyG-ABSI) has emerged as a composite marker of cardiometabolic risk. This study aimed to evaluate the association between TyG-ABSI and COPD risk and to assess its predictive utility using machine learning algorithms. METHODS: Data were analyzed from two large-scale distinct cohor

Reduction of Motion Artifacts in Cardiorespiratory Vital Signs as Oxygen Saturation and Non-Invasive Blood Pressure Through Redundant Denoising and Adaptive Filtering Methods for Wearable Healthcare Monitoring Systems.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Chronic cardiovascular diseases have motivated the development of wearable systems capable of continuously monitoring physiological variables such as oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ) and non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP). However, motion artifacts remain one of the main limitations affecting the reliability of these measurements in ambulatory environments. This article presents a novel framework for motion artifact reduction in photoplethysmography (PPG) and NIBP signals based on redundant sensing, inertial measurements, ECG-guided temporal synchrony, and multichannel s

Proposing an Optimized Prediction Model for Pancreatic Cancer Based on Mendelian Randomization Analysis of Fibrinogen Levels and Urinary Protein Excretion Rate.

BACKGROUND: An ongoing debate exists on the relationship between fibrinogen levels, urinary albumin excretion (UAE), and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), as demonstrated by clinical data of patients with benign and malignant pancreatic tumors. METHODS: FinnGen and EMBL-EBI provided data on single-nucleotide polymorphisms associated with fibrinogen levels, UAE, and PDAC. To examine exposure-outcome relationships, weighted median, MR-Egger, and inverse variance weighted methods were employed. Heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy were evaluated using Cochran's Q test and MR-Egger inte

Radiologic, Pathologic, and Deep Learning Predictors of Response to Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Renal Cell Carcinoma Patients Undergoing Post-Treatment Nephrectomy.

Response assessment of primary kidney tumors in the consolidation cytoreductive and neoadjuvant settings offers a unique opportunity to inform postoperative adaptive treatment strategies. Yet, systematic analyses of nephrectomy specimens post immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) therapies are lacking. We retrospectively identified consecutive renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients with locoregionally advanced or metastatic RCC who received at least one cycle of ICI-containing doublet therapy prior to nephrectomy at the UTSW Kidney Cancer Program (2017-2024). Radiologic and pathologic features were

CALM-CXR: a calibration-aware lung-masked workflow for hierarchical chest X-ray classification.

Chest X-ray classification studies often report endpoint performance without isolating how anatomical guidance, staged decisions, probability calibration, and error propagation influence the final prediction. CALM-CXR is a reproducible protocol that operationally couples lung-mask-conditioned regional expert modeling with separately trained normal-abnormal and bacterial-viral stages, stage-specific temperature scaling, calibration-partition threshold selection, and coherent three-class probability composition. Its methodological advance is the controlled, auditable coupling of these establishe

Predictive Analysis of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor and Apolipoprotein E SNPs in Alzheimer's Pathogenesis.

BACKGROUND: Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and apolipoprotein E (APOE) are key regulators of neuronal function and cognitive health. Genetic variations in these genes, particularly nonsynonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs), have been linked to Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study employs a computational approach to predict the potential functional impacts of nsSNPs in BDNF and APOE to explore their contributions to AD pathogenesis. METHODS: A total of 3590 BDNF and 27,830 APOE SNPs were retrieved from the dbSNP database. Following quality filtering of coding region loca

Hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery improves glycaemic control compared with sensor-augmented pump therapy: A meta-analysis of 'free-living' randomised trials in type 1 diabetes.

AIM: Although hybrid closed-loop systems (HCLS) and sensor-augmented pump (SAP) therapy are advanced diabetes management technologies for type 1 diabetes, their relative efficacy in optimising glycaemic control is not fully established. This meta-analysis evaluated the impact of HCLS versus SAP therapy on glucose regulation across multiple randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and randomised crossover trials (RCOs). The primary aim was to determine the efficacy of HCLS in improving glycaemic control, reducing glucose variability and enhancing time in range (TIR) compared with SAP therapy. METHO
