PURPOSE: Following tooth extraction, wound healing is characterized by remodeling and resorption of the alveolar bone at the extraction site. This produces reduction in ridge volume. Medical-grade calcium sulfate hemihydrate (MGCSH) has been proposed as a graft material for extraction sockets to minimize the reduction in ridge volume. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of MGCSH on the histopathologic pattern of intrasocket regenerated bone and to evaluate histologically the healed MGCSH-grafted extraction socket site at 3 months postextraction.

Low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS), usually a deeply situated mass in adults, is uncommon in superficial soft tissue and in children. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of three-dimensional conformal hypofractionated high-dose radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
METHODS: The combined treatment was carried out in 63 cases of NSCLC and the short-term effects, the patients' survival rate and complications were observed.

OBJECTIVE: To study the dynamic changes of serum procollagen III (PCIII), hyaluronic acid (HA) and laminin (LN) in rats with hepatic fibrosis treated with Hujin pill (HJP).
METHODS: The classic model of hepatic fibrosis induced by CCl4 were used in the observation. The serum PCIII, HA and LN were determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA).

This work presents results of a retrospective and prospective research of 15 persons with a double diagnosis: body dysmorphic disorder, and delusional disorder, somatic type. Using a stepwise discriminant analysis we examined the Dutch observational ward behaviour scale GIP in relation to DSM-III-R classification. The GIP was compared to older rating-scales like the BOP and NOSIE-30 in a psychiatric observation clinic for the elderly. A prospective investigation of 98 patients with acute loss of inner ear function showed that such patients display changes in the pulsatility of the basilar artery; however, the differences can be appreciated only by comparison with control sonograms during the course of the disease. We examined biological properties of strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which were isolated in our ward in 1991 and 1992. A prostate spiral developed in Denmark may be introduced with a special catheter under local anaesthesia under the guidance of transabdominal ultrasonic scanning. Forty-four consecutive patients with retention of urine were treated with the prostate spiral. Ultrasonic-guided introduction was successful in 33 patients (73%). Cystoscopy proved necessary for introduction of the spiral in six patients and, in two cases, it was introduced over a ureteric catheter. The efficacies of oxidised copper particles, selenium bullets and soluble glass bullets in raising the copper and/or selenium reserves of young cattle marginally deficient in both trace elements were examined. Selenium bullets were associated with a reduced copper uptake when selenium bullets and oxidised copper particles were given together.
