Two cases of intralenticular foreign bodies are reported. In the first, a foreign body composed of copper had been embedded in the lens for about 40 years, but had produced only a localized cataract. In the second, the foreign body, presumably composed of stone, remained undiagnosed for one and a half years. In both cases extracapsular cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation was performed, which restored good visual acuity.

Stroke remains one of the most feared complications of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We report our initial experience using a dedicated full-body embolic protection device during TAVR in 3 patients with severe aortic stenosis and high-risk embolic features. Normative data on the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) for a clinical sample of males in the United States are presented. Thirty-eight males completed the EDE-Q at time of admission to an inpatient unit for eating disorders. The majority of males were diagnosed with unspecified eating disorder (73.7%, n=28). Mean age at time of admission was 24.4 years (SD=12.6), mean body mass index at time of admission was 21.5kg/m2 (SD=9.5), and mean length of stay was 13.6 days (SD=9.3). Mean scores, standard deviations, and percentile ranks for the global and subscale scores are provided.

Modulation of calcium-sensitive potassium (BK) channels by oxygen is important in several mammalian tissues, and in the carotid body it is crucial to respiratory control. However, the identity of the oxygen sensor remains unknown. We demonstrate that hemoxygenase-2 (HO-2) is part of the BK channel complex and enhances channel activity in normoxia. Knockdown of HO-2 expression reduced channel activity, and carbon monoxide, a product of HO-2 activity, rescued this loss of function. METHODS: We conducted a review of children who presented to the pediatric intensive care unit of a university hospital due to fatal foreign bodies aspiration during the period of 2010-2017.

PURPOSE: To report the diagnosis and management of a patient with a well-tolerated, long-standing retained intracorneal foreign body.
METHODS: We describe the case of a 62-year-old man with a 40-year-old retained wood foreign body within the posterior stroma of the cornea. To the authors' knowledge, this is the longest standing intracorneal foreign body reported in the literature.
RESULTS: The foreign body was asymptomatic, well tolerated, and appeared encapsulated, so the patient was carefully observed. One year later, the examination remained stable.
CONCLUSIONS: Our case seems to violate

Pediatric heart transplant candidates have the highest wait-list mortality of all organ candidates. Mechanical circulatory support has improved survival for many patients awaiting transplant. Biventricular mechanical circulatory support remains a particular challenge for pediatric patients. Lumbar spinal stenosis is most often a degenerate condition observed in the older population. We describe the case of a lady with typical claudicant symptoms with an unusual cause of stenosis identified at the time of her decompressive surgery. On review of the literature this is only the second case of osteochondral loose body as a cause for lumbar spinal stenosis and thus remains a rare phenomenon.
