We report herein an unusual case of metachronous triple cancers of the sigmoid colon, stomach, and esophagus. A 60-year-old man was initially admitted to our hospital for investigation of occult fecal blood. This was found to be caused by sigmoid colon cancer which was resected in July 1985 (T3, N0, M0; Stage II). A follow-up endoscopy performed in 1990 showed early gastric cancer, and a gastrectomy was performed in August 1990 (Tis, N0, M0; Stage 0). A 70-year-old male was hospitalized for right scrotal mass without pain in October 1991. Right orchiectomy was performed under a diagnosis of right epididymal tumor. Histopathological diagnosis was testicular adenomatoid tumor. In June 1992, he was admitted with a mass in the right inguinal region and a tumor was resected. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of a malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the transverse colon that seems to have been induced by radiation and we review the 12 other cases of colorectal MFH in the literature. The frequency of recurrence after radical surgery was 33% (4/12), excluding a patient with synchronous liver metastases, during the follow-up periods reported in the literature. A 20-year-old man received 60 Gy of radiation therapy after partial removal of craniopharyngioma. The patient had been well and follow-up CT scans did not show any aggravation for 16 years. An upper urinary tract tumor following the initial diagnosis of bladder carcinoma is rare. We report 3 patients with bladder carcinoma who later developed upper urinary tract tumors. Ureteral tumor was diagnosed by ureterorenoscope in the first 2 patients, while in the third case, urothelial tumor involving the entire left upper tract was found at the time of planned operation for cystectomy. The etiology, risk factors, and investigation plans were reviewed, in order to make an early detection of tumors.

Pancreatic carcinoma carries a poor prognosis, especially invasive ductal carcinoma of the pancreas. This retrospective study describes the results of the treatment and prognosis for double cancers in which cancer of the pancreas was associated with malignancies in other organs in 12 patients who were diagnosed and treated at Kurume University Hospital. CONTEXT: Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) with pathogenic mutations in the succinate dehydrogenase subunit B (SDHB) are associated with a high metastatic risk. Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2)-dependent imaging is the most sensitive imaging modality for SDHB-related PPGLs, suggesting that SSTR2 expression is a significant cell surface therapeutic biomarker of such tumors.
