Applying the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health to Classify Upper Limb Outcome Measures in Stroke Rehabilitation: A Construct-Driven Perspective.

INTRODUCTION: Accurate evaluation of upper limb recovery after stroke is essential for guiding rehabilitation targeting specific impairments and activity limitations. To achieve this, outcome measures must clearly reflect what they assess, whether neuromuscular impairments or activity limitations. However, classification of measures is not always clear-cut, which can lead to misinterpretation of recovery progress and reduce rehabilitation planning effectiveness. PROBLEM: Current classification practices often prioritize item content over the scoring criteria that define what is being quantifi

Background/Objectives: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other progressive fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (F-ILD) are characterised by progressive loss of lung function, worsening symptoms, and poor prognosis. Current antifibrotic therapies slow disease progression but do not arrest or reverse fibrosis and are frequently associated with adverse effects. Senicapoc, a selective KCa3.1 channel inhibitor, has shown antifibrotic effects in preclinical models, human lung myofibroblasts, and ex vivo human lung tissue. This study aims to determine whether senicapoc reduces the rate of decli

Gender reassignment and neurosurgical implications: a narrative review.

Gender dysphoria is characterized by a marked incongruence between an individual's experienced gender and assigned sex at birth. The global prevalence of transgender individuals is increasing, leading to greater interaction with healthcare systems across multiple specialties, including neurosurgery. Gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), a cornerstone of treatment, has several neurological and neurosurgical implications. Nevertheless, neurosurgeons often report limited confidence in managing transgender patients because of insufficient awareness and training. This review explores the growing

Contemporary risk assessment and risk-reducing strategies for tubo-ovarian cancer in women with BRCA pathogenic variants.

Tubo-ovarian cancer represents the most lethal gynecologic malignancy, and its burden is compounded by the absence of effective screening and the substantial lifetime risk carried by women with germline BRCA1 or BRCA2 pathogenic variants. While risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy remains the standard for prevention, conferring reduction in tubo-ovarian cancer risk and improved overall survival, it also induces premature menopause with significant effects on quality of life and bone, cardiovascular, and sexual health. These consequences have driven the exploration of alternative preventive stra

Rollout of a care bundle for intracerebral haemorrhage across the North of England: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: A care bundle was developed and implemented at a hospital in North West England to improve the management of intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) and was associated with a 44% reduction in 30-day case fatality. It was scaled out to the other hyperacute stroke units (HASUs) in the region. Findings showed the bundle could be successfully implemented into new settings, but challenges impeded its implementation. The findings were used to develop an implementation strategy to support roll-out outside the region. The ABC-ICH care bundle was then scaled up as a quality improvement initiative a
