Treatment of congenital melanocytic naevi of nose using multiple flaps in single stage in a paediatric patient and literature review.

A girl in her middle childhood presented to the outpatient department (OPD) with a congenital melanocytic naevi (CMN) of the right nasal alar lobule. Her parents had aesthetic concerns and expressed their desire to get the lesion removed. The full-thickness excision of CMN was performed with the reconstruction of the defect using the nasolabial and dorsal nasal advancement flap with conchal cartilage to shape the contour of the ala.

Guidance for Circumflex Scapular Artery Flap Utilization in Pediatric Reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: The circumflex scapular artery (CSA) flap system, consisting of scapular, parascapular, and chimeric flaps, is useful for pediatric reconstruction in many anatomical locations. The objectives of this case series are to offer insights into our decision-making process for selecting the CSA flap in particular pediatric reconstructive cases and to establish a framework for choosing a scapular or parascapular skin paddle. We also aim to emphasize important technical considerations of CSA flap utilization in pediatric patients. METHODS: Pediatric reconstruction with CSA flaps performed

A Novel Hybrid Procedure Combining Resection and Tracheoplasty for Complex Laryngotracheal Stenosis.

Adult airway stenosis is a common condition treated in the otolaryngology clinic. Patients with high-grade, long-segment stenosis often fail endoscopic management. We describe the successful use of a hybrid resection and laryngotracheoplasty procedure that maximizes airway luminal patency in adults with successful decannulation. Laryngoscope, 134:4893-4896, 2024.

Slide tracheoplasty for congenital tracheal stenosis with involvement of the carina and bronchi: a case report.

A female newborn presented with respiratory distress at birth and was diagnosed with congenital tracheal stenosis. The stenosis was positioned at the distal trachea and compromised the carina and the right and left bronchi. She underwent surgical treatment using circulatory life support with veno-arterial peripheral extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and the airway was reconstructed using the slide tracheoplasty technique to build a neocarina. The patient had an excellent postoperative course, was successfully weaned from extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and invasive ventilation, and was

Clavicular tunnel widening after acromioclavicular joint reconstruction: comparison between single and double clavicular tunnel techniques.

Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) reconstruction using artificial ligaments is a common surgical treatment for Rockwood grade III or higher injuries. These techniques use bone tunnels in the clavicle and coracoid to insert the Tightrope implants. This multicenter retrospective study compares long term radiographic follow up of clavicular tunnel widening in two groups of patients with high-grade ACJ injury who underwent reconstruction using two different surgical techniques. The first group of 23 patients underwent an arthroscopic single clavicular tunnel ACJ reconstruction. The second group of 23

The Role of CT Angiography in Designing a Hair-Bearing Superficial Temporal Artery Flap for Eyebrow Reconstruction.

The hair-bearing superficial temporal artery flap is one of the traditional options for total eyebrow reconstruction. The anatomical variation of the superficial temporal artery has been well discussed; however, the anatomy of the superficial temporal vein is highly diverse. The authors report the use of preoperative computed tomography (CT) angiography in a 27-year-old man with a total eyebrow defect caused by thermal burn injury. The authors harvested a 6×1.5-cm pedicled hair-bearing superficial temporal artery flap from the area where the parietal branches of the superficial temporal artery

Hand and wrist complete degloving: A case report and litterature review.

INTRODUCTION: Complete hand degloving injuries are traumatic avulsion injuries causing the skin to pull away from the underlying tissues and are most often caused by industrial machinery. We present the case of a degloving trauma of the whole fingers, hand, and wrist resulting in a "watch hand" by analogy with the "ring finger" and discuss alternatives and recommendations from the rare cases described of similar traumas. CASE PRESENTATION: A 33-year-old manual worker, a non-smoker with no significant medical or surgical comorbidities, was admitted for a complete skin avulsion of the left hand

3D-Printed Metacarpal Prosthesis in the Treatment of Primary Osteosarcoma of the First Metacarpal: A Novel Surgical Technique.

OBJECTIVE: Osteosarcoma at the first metacarpal is extremely rare. Reconstructing the metacarpal after tumor resection is essential, as the thumb accounts for approximately 40%-50% of hand function. Although autografts, arthroplasty, and transposition have been reported as reconstruction options, their use is limited by complications such as secondary injury, nonunion, and displacement. In this study, we present a case of a patient with first metacarpal osteosarcoma who underwent tumor resection followed by reconstruction with a 3D-printed metacarpal prosthesis. We tend to introduce a novel st

Pedicled myocutaneous trapezius flap for chronic osteomyelitis of the spinous processes - a case report.

Complex injuries to the posterior trunk can still pose a significant challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Due to the lack of skin laxity, dependent anatomical location and the importance of the deeper structures, a systematic approach tailored to the individual defect should be considered for these types of reconstructions. In our case report, we present a reconstructive solution of a chronic defect of the back caused by resection of an ulceration. What was previously considered to be a relapse of a malignant melanoma turned out to be a chronic osteomyelitis of the spinous processes of the
