OBJECTIVES: Evaluation of regional anaesthesia procedures for limb traumatic surgery performed in an emergency department.
METHOD: Anaesthetic procedures concerning traumatic emergencies have been studied from 1995 to 2000.
RESULTS: A 32% increase in anaesthesia practice was observed from 1995 (221) to 2000 (292) with a 52% increase in regional anaesthesia. We present a case of complicated Spigelian hernia presented with symptoms of intestinal occlusion, in a 50 years old woman. Spigelian hernia represents 1-2% of all abdominal hernias and can occur anywhere along the semicircular line of Douglas. The results of stapedectomy surgery performed in Singapore General Hospital covering a period of over two years are reviewed. The diagnostic importance of selected clinical features and investigative procedures in otosclerosis is studied. Of 209 cases of pleomorphic adenoma treated in a 30 year period, 38 were secondary referrals with recurrent disease following surgery.
