Navigating life and health care. A qualitative study of the lived experience of complex multimorbidity in Denmark.

AIM: This study aimed to explore how individuals with complex multimorbidity perceive and experience the management of their health in everyday life and healthcare encounters. BACKGROUND: Patients with two or more health conditions may be challenging for general practitioners (GPs) who must provide adequate treatment(-s) in a healthcare system structured mainly around single-disease models. For patients, the lived experience of this multimorbidity can be demanding, as it often involves managing multiple appointments, medications, and medical advice alongside everyday life. This situation may

Wonder drugs and where to use them: a forecast of ivermectin's impact on malaria in Africa.

A study in Burkina Faso revealed ivermectin inhibits malaria transmission by killing malaria parasites and mosquitoes. However, it is unknown what effect this drug will have on the malaria transmission intensities of the rest of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). To address this issue, we created a mathematical model using malaria transmission data from 41 SSA countries to evaluate the antimalarial benefits of a mass drug administration (MDA) of ivermectin. To account for ivermectin's effect on malaria, we incorporate estimates of its ability to inhibit malaria transmission and kill mosquitoes. We cons

Establishing the minimal important change for Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life questionnaire for the prevention of opioid-induced constipation in patients with cancer pain.

PURPOSE: The Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC-QOL) questionnaire measures constipation-specific quality of life; however, how small changes in the PAC-QOL scales are clinically meaningful for the prevention of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) is unknown. This study aimed to determine the minimal important change (MIC) of the PAC-QOL scales for the prevention of OIC in patients initiating opioids for cancer pain. METHODS: MICs were calculated using data from a multicenter, randomized controlled trial of naldemedine for OIC prevention. MICs for the PAC-QOL overall scale

Lung Ultrasound Scores Progress Differently in Extreme and Very Preterm Infants after Birth: A Multicentre Prospective Study.

INTRODUCTION: The lung ultrasound score (LUS) has been suggested to predict moderate-severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (msBPD) in preterm infants. We aimed to assess LUS evolution after birth in preterm infants and the effect of gestational age. METHODS: This multicentre prospective observational study was performed with newborns born before 33 weeks of gestation. We created two groups: group 1 (23-27 weeks) and group 2 (28-32 weeks). We compared LUSs between the groups from birth until 36 weeks of postmenstrual age, and we estimated the LUS evolution in each group with a linear multilevel mi
