Both filtering surgery with Mitomycin-C and diode laser cyclophotocoagulation have proved to be effective alternatives in cases of glaucoma with poor surgical prognosis. The right eyes of 40 pigmented rabbits were randomly divided into 2 groups: Mitomycin-C group underwent filtering surgery with application of 0.4 mg/ml of Mitomycin-C whereas the diode laser (DL) group received 15 applications of 1.8 J (1800 mW. 1000 ms) distributed in 270 degrees. Mean IOP showed statistical differences in two periods between days 3-13 and 45-60-Mann-Whitney U test -with a higher IOP lowering in the DL group.

PURPOSE: To reduce hypotony and shallowing of the anterior chamber after seton implantation.
METHODS: The silicone tube is ligated with an 8-0 nylon suture and a clear corneal graft placed over the tube to facilitate postoperative laser suture lysis.
RESULTS: Laser suture lysis has been performed in 34 cases to date with a follow-up period of up to 26 months. No severe complications occurred after laser suture lysis.
CONCLUSIONS: This technique provides another option to increase drainage postoperatively without the risk of releasable sutures or instrumentation within the eye.

BACKGROUND: The course after severe eye burns is characterized by many complications which require a longlasting and intensive therapy. The success of treatment is menaced especially by superficial problems like persistent erosiones which occur also after keratoplasty.
PATIENT: As a cause of persistent erosions, pathological changes of Bowmans' membrane are discussed. Therefore, it was removed by PTK (phototherapeutic keratectomy) in our patient, in order to allow better adhesion of the epithelium to the deeper, less changed layers.

The accommodation potential of the eye is markedly reduced in patients with optic nystagmus. Trans-scleral exposure of the ciliary body to infrared low-energy laser at wavelength 1.3 microns may be used to repair the accommodation potential of the eyes and improve the visual function in nystagmus.
