PURPOSE: The Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) is a newly introduced tonometer that uniquely measures and then integrates corneal biomechanical data into its intraocular pressure (IOP) estimates in an effort to improve accuracy of IOP assessment. CASE REPORT: A 35-year-old man with degenerative myopia suffered blunt ocular trauma due to being hit in the face by a ball. The injury caused four cyclodialysis clefts in his left eye which resulted in hypotony and chorioretinal folds.

Endovascular procedures have revolutionized the treatment of carotid-cavernous fistulas through transarterial and transvenous routes. In some circumstances, however, traditional endovascular approaches may fail. Direct access to the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) can be used to treat fistulas in this circumstance. The authors discuss the technical aspects of direct exposure of the SOV for access to the cavernous sinus.

BACKGROUND: Fundus documentation in preterm infants has been improved by the advent of a new wide-angle fundus camera (RetCam 120).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In 30 preterm infants we used the RetCam 120 for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening, before and after laser treatment of ROP and after regression of acute phase ROP for documentation of fundus findings. The RetCam 120 is a digital contact wide-angle fundus camera which is based on a 3-chip CCD video camera.

A technique is described that overcomes the two biggest problems facing the surgeon when dissecting a pterygium from the cornea-bleeding and eye movement. Our technique however, requires only minimal anesthesia (topical and subconjunctival) and the use of a disposable speculum and suction ring. An added advantage is this particular speculum gives good exposure of the superior bulbar conjunctiva; this facilitates harvesting a conjunctival autograft.
