The real-world use of head-upright tilt-table tests (HUTTs) in North America is not known. This single-centre retrospective study in Toronto, Ontario, Canada reports on 1063 HUTTs conducted between 2014 and 2024. Urethrovaginal reflux is a functional disorder in prepubertal girls with reflux of urine in the vagina during early part of voiding with resultant incontinence after the patient assumes upright posture. Our case demonstrates urethrovaginal reflux in an elderly patient with gross distension of the vagina on computed tomography urography images, possibly secondary to functional spastic pelvic floor muscles. Awareness of urethrovaginal reflux is important for appropriate management and for avoidance of unnecessary further diagnostic workup.

We report a patient who developed relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) at 8 years old, and then had a progressive clinical course and dystonia. Dystonia of the patient is probably due to a lesion of the basal ganglia. Abnormal posture or movement disorder is very rarely found in MS, and progressive clinical course is also rare in childhood. The patient is worthy of attention because of his childhood onset, progressive clinical course and dystonia.

It is reported the case of a male patient with 19 years old presenting progressive behavior disturbance and dystonic posture beginning on right, with approximately five years of evolution. Extrapyramidal and pyramidal syndrome was evidenced at examination. This finding suggests Hallervorden-Spatz disease which was confirmed by resonance imaging (MRI). The purpose of reporting this case is to call attention for the importance of MRI in the study of degenerative diseases of the nervous system.

Nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia (NOMI) is a disorder with an extremely high mortality. Salvage of affected patients requires early recognition and aggressive intervention to prevent intestinal gangrene. Dialysis patients represent a group at particularly high risk for this condition. Clinicians should develop a high index of suspicion for NOMI in dialysis patients to lessen the risk of death. A high interventional posture must be maintained due to the notoriously unreliable signs and symptoms of this disorder.

Injections of botulinum toxin into the main cervical muscles responsible for abnormal posture and movements in spasmodic torticollis reduced pain and attenuated dystonia for a period of 2 months on average. After several sessions 9 out of 36 patients (25 p. 100) felt they had improved by at least 50 percent, 16 (44 p.100) by 50 to 75 percent, and 6 (17 p. 100) by more than 75 percent. This paper describes a previously unreported recessive mutation in mice which, in the homozygous state, caused an abnormal posture, characterised by extension and abduction of the limbs on one side. This position alternated causing the mice to fall to one side or the other. The only histological abnormality noted, in the slightly smaller brains of the mutants, was a displacement and disarrangement of the Purkinje cells into the granular layer, in parts of the nodulus.

Loose ligaments are often a predisposing factor of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. This causal factor was analyzed in 701 subjects presenting at the TMJ and Posture Center of Siena University with TMJ pain or dysfunction. Along with the conventional jaw examination, a Carter and Wilkinson test as modified by Beighton was also done. We found a correlation among the parameters of age, gender, TMJ disorder, joint pain, muscle pain, and loose ligaments.

"Rubral" tremor is a rare movement disorder that occurs typically with midbrain damage. It is defined by its presence at rest, with sustained posture, and with movement. Whether it is a single-tremor disorder or a combination of two distinct tremors is debated. This report chronicles a severe neuroleptic induced "rubral" tremor in a patient who had had a stable posttraumatic ataxia. The dramatic response to benztropine and bromocriptine is illustrated in the videotape.

With the large number of factors that contribute to the "position of rest" or fusion-free posture, it might be expected that heterophoria would be normally distributed. Data from a large sample of symptom-free subjects (N = 925) show that this is not so. Furthermore, the difference in the prism adaptation response in orthophoria, esophoria, and exophoria suggests that the presence of heterophoria in normal subjects is due to the partial saturation of prism adaptation.
