This paper concerns the in silico studies of the influence of heterocyclic substituents as well as their protonated and deprotonated forms on the spectral characteristics of BODIPY (4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene) dyes. This cross-sectional study was planned to study the blood ammonia levels in epileptic children on 2 dose ranges of valproic acid monotherapy. A total of 60 epileptic children aged 3 months to 12 years, that were on valproic acid monotherapy for at least 3 months, were enrolled and divided into 2 groups, a low-dose group (dose, 20-39 mg/kg/d [n = 32]) and a high-dose group (dose, 40-60 mg/kg/d [n=31]). In Escherichia coli and other bacteria, MinD, along with MinE and MinC, rapidly oscillates from one pole of the cell to the other controlling the correct placement of the division septum. MinD binds to the membrane through its amphipathic C-terminal alpha-helix. This binding, promoted by ATP-induced dimerization, may be further enhanced by a consequent attraction of acidic phospholipids and formation of a stable proteolipid domain. In the context of this hypothesis we studied changes in dynamics of a model membrane caused by MinD binding using membrane-embedded fluorescent probes as reporters.

In order to evaluate suitability of Fluorescence Polarisation Assay (FPA) for serological Brucella diagnostic, 1739 samples of sera from cattle, pigs, sheep and goats (65 Brucella-positive, 960-negative and 714 false-positive sera) were investigated at a dilution of 1:10. The cut-off was adjusted by means of ROC analysis.
