At 18 months after surgery and post-operative radiotherapy, the function of the ipsilateral shoulder joint was assessed both subjectively and objectively in 141 patients with early stage breast cancer. The fetal liver chimera system was used as a model to study the nature of transplantation tolerance in radiation chimeras. A permanent state of tolerance was induced in (C3H/eb times C57BL/6)F1 irradiated mice after reconstitution with parental C57BL/6 fetal or neonatal liver cells. BACKGROUND: Metal-on-metal bearings in total hip arthroplasty (THA) were introduced to reduce the production of wear debris and debris-induced periprosthetic osteolysis. Analysis of various series according to the type of selected acetabular fixation highlights different evolutions: favourable results with uncemented cups contrasting with loosening and radiolucent lines (RLL) evolution for cemented cups.
