Children who experience homelessness and domestic violence enter early childhood programs with developmental and behavioral challenges. Thoroughly evaluating these children can be daunting for daycare staff without advanced training. Occupational therapists can provide child development expertise and consultation. This group case study examined the FirstSTEp screening tool's ability to measure the behavioral, developmental, and emotional changes of 19 pre-schoolers who experienced homelessness and witnessed domestic violence. OBJECTIVES: Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are on the rise, mainly among men having sex with men (MSM).
GOAL: The goal of this study was to evaluate whether STD increases as seen in MSM are also visible among heterosexuals.
STUDY DESIGN: Attendees of the STD clinic in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, are routinely tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Additionally, all women are tested for trichomoniasis. STD time trends of heterosexual attendees between 1994 and 2005 were analyzed by logistic regression and generalized linear models with a negative binomial distribution.

Tuberculosis (Tbc) gained importance as a public health problem in the recent years. The course of the disease is more severe in childhood. BACKGROUND: To observe and record an outbreak of acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis (APSGN) in the Lockhart River community in 2005 and the steps taken by health workers to contain the epidemic.
METHODS: A descriptive study of cases of APSGN and children aged from 2 to 12 years involved in the screening program.
SETTING: A remote indigenous community in Far North Queensland.

We investigated the prevalence of abnormal screening results (questionnaire and testing for other causes of oligo-ovulation, male or tubal factor infertility) in a group of 1,313 oligo-ovulatory women (included and excluded subjects) whose condition was screened for inclusion in the Pregnancy in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome trial, a multicenter clinical trial that was conducted at 13 sites in the United States. Other than failure to demonstrate laboratory evidence of hyperandrogenemia, the most common reasons for subject exclusion were persistent oligospermia and tubal factor infertility.
