OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical and laboratory examination features of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with decreased platelet count.
METHODS: Thirty-four SLE patients with decreased platelet count were analyzed for their initial symptoms, clinical manifestations, involvement of the organs and laboratory findings in comparison with 40 randomly selected SLE patients with normal platelet count.

There is a current effort to perform myringoplasty for tympanic membrane perforations as a day-stay procedure. In 1998, an inlay myringoplasty using tragal cartilage/perichondrium was described. Thirty cases of humeral shaft fracture sustained during arm wrestling were analyzed. Twenty eight were men and two were women. Eighteen were fractures of the right arm and 12 were of the left. PURPOSE: To describe a rare inherited disorder in five patients presenting with horizontal gaze palsy along with characteristic abnormalities on neuroimaging.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic autoimmune disease that attacks various organ systems with a variety of clinical implications, ranging from mild skin and mucosal manifestations to severe central nervous system manifestations and death. Cases of SLE have been documented nearly two centuries ago when scholars used the terms 'erythema centrifugum' and 'seborrhea congestiva' to describe the discoid skin lesions and the butterfly or malar rash in SLE. Since then, knowledge about this disease has developed rapidly, especially knowledge related to the underlying pathogenesis of SLE.

We report a 12 years old female patient with an overlap syndrome involving autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The patient presented with jaundice, hepatosplenomegaly, malaise, polyarthralgia, arthritis and butterfly rash on the face. Laboratory tests revealed severe liver dysfunction, Coombs positive hemolytic anemia and a positive ANA/anti-dsDNA test.
