BACKGROUND: Intrathecal drug delivery systems (ITDDS) are an option for the treatment of chronic pain syndromes or spasticity that are refractory to other conservative measures; however, they are not without complications. Seroma formation is one of the possible complications following implantation of an ITDDS.
CASE REPORT: We present 3 separate cases of patients with recalcitrant seroma formation at their IT pump sites that were successfully treated with doxycycline pleurodesis.

OBJECTIVE: Early establishment of enteral feeds is desirable in very preterm infants, but it may be associated with feeding intolerance. Several feeding methods have been studied with no strong evidence to suggest the preferred feeding method to establish early full enteral feeds. We studied three modalities of feeding in preterm infants ≤32 weeks and ≤1,250 g: continuous infusion (CI), intermittent bolus by infusion (IBI), and intermittent bolus by gravity (IBG) for their effect on time to reach full enteral feeds of 180 mL/kg/d.

Intensive diabetes management can be achieved in adults, adolescents, and children with use of CSII. Compared with MDI, CSII has better insulin pharmacokinetics, less variability in insulin absorption, and decreased risk of hypoglycemia; it also offers patients greater flexibility in lifestyle. Careful adjustment of basal and bolus doses and close follow-up, including patient education, are vital to the success of CSII.

Forty-two patients with advanced head and neck cancer entered this phase II trial of long-term continuous 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) infusion at a dose of 300 mg/m2/day for a maximum of 16 weeks. The efficacy and safety of continuous wound infiltration with Ropivacaine in combination with systemic anaesthesia were assessed in randomized controlled trial in 60 patients after open hysterectomy. In the trial wound administration of Ropivacaine reduced the postoperative consumption of opioids and the intensity of pain syndrome and reduced the frequency of side effects of narcotic analgesics.
